Get the addon AlterEgo, it will show you if your characters have vaults ready. A lot more compact than SavedInstances as well.

Not sure if you stopped using SavedInstances, but the Raid row will indicate if you have a Vault to open.

Narcissus does that along with a bunch of other stuff (which some ppl say makes it eat up a bunch of their ram or cpu or smth so beware!)

it is but at some point you just dont need to buy anything with them except maybe transmogs so it wouldnt matter if they are additional to the cap
