Gene Ween did a tour in 2015 by himself (the band was broken up from 2012-2016) of just Billy Joel covers. He also did a solo album during their “hiatus” called “Freeman”, it’s amazing.

Great to see you reacting to Ween. Not a lot out there. As a Ween fan from Toronto that was at this show, I thought I could provide some venue context. The Phoenix is a multi-use venue with a bar/billiards/dance club and a separate concert hall. Ween was playing in the concert hall, and it was a ticketed event. If you were there it was because you paid to see Ween. People weren’t there to watch the game but because it was an important game they had one eye on the game and one on the concert.

Love these guys. Fun Fact: Ween was the only great concert I ever walked out on... but I left at the three and a half hour mark, which was a half hour AFTER Gener left the stage. Last hour (plus) was solo duels between all the musicians. White Pepper, Chocolate & Cheese, and Pure Guava are the trifecta for me.

The concert I was at was very similar, but I waited out for around half an hour after Gener left. Thankfully he came back out and said good night at that point 😂

I was at a show where that happened as well. Hampton beach NH they played LMLYP and the band just kept playing and playing gener said goodnight and left the stage and the jam continued for 30 more minutes just that one song. I was in my glory my wife was chomping at the bit to get out of there. It was a marathon show for sure

Thanks for the great reaction. Doesn't get more punk rock than closing a show with a song about nothing sung with no passion with the amazing build up as if it's the most profound topic. Love this band. Go Fluffy!!!!

Hi Hraefn. You answered a question I was thinking. What do Mexican people think of this song. Are they offended by Gene doing the accent and the whole song in general. Glad to hear that at least one person of Mexican heritage likes it. I am Irish American and heard loads of people imitate the Irish accent and in a much more exaggerated way than Gene was doing and I don’t take offense to it.

@@mikeguerin4535 every person I've played the song for was shocked to learn he wasn't mexican. His accent is that good. And no they were not offended upon learning he's white. They just said it was a great song.

Loved ween since I was introduced to them in the early 2000's. Now I find too much pleasure in watching others find them now. Might have to PayPal you guys for Live at Stubbs I think that is probably my favorite live set of theirs

A Tear For Eddie (song on Chocolate and Cheese) is Deaner’s nod to his favorite guitarist Eddie Hazel. Great track and great album also

Good to know this. I was thinking it was a tune in the style of Frank Zappa, particularly the studio version where Dean’s solo seems to lift a phrase from Muffin Man.

@@jaubrey543 Ween has gone on somewhat of a record to say they don’t like Zappa. I don’t believe that at all. But a Tear for Eddie is most definitely about Eddie Hazel, one of my personal favorite guitar players also. But I’m sure Deaner has pulled from all kinds of stuff from his belt

You guys should listen to Mourning Glory off of Pure Guava. Probably their most beautifully ugly track ever. The Stallion Part 1 is another great one. Reminds me a bit of the Revenge of Anus Presley by the Butthole Surfers(another band you should check out).
