Yep I remember hearing a group called Weezer when I was 14... I was listening to a Hamm international radio of my Stepdads as he was into them plus AM CB radios. I used to earwig on the truckers over the pond. I live in the UK. 😅😅😅

This cover somehow manages to completely take away all the irony and self-awareness of the original, effectively turning it from an angsty 90's rock song into a pompous 80's new wave song. Good job!

It's because of the sax. Most 80s covers don't use that very, very, very 80s instrument, they just use synthesizers, which is why it sounds more modern. Listen to 80s new wave. Saxes all around!

To be honest, the original always felt a bit like an 80's song to me? I mean, a bit harder rocking than most 80's music, but I mean, there was even heavier music in the 80's if you looked in the right places.
