a lot of bands that are like MCR really look up to weezer. i went to a P!ATD/Weezer concert in Tampa FL and it was so cool to see panic's lead singer be so down to earth about fangirling over weezer. It makes sense though because all of these new age punk bands were probably listening to weezer while they were growing up.
