We turn the boost up in the GC8 and get it ripping better than ever, then we load up and head down to the CAT scales to see how much the truck and trailer weigh and to test the truck out and see if our overheating issue is finally fixed.

Might have to get a cheap rotary polisher and compound the trailer. It’s dull because of the oxidation. Definitely keep the trailer you need every ounce of space when racing

If you have a truck able to pull it, downsizing in trailer seems like a bad idea. If you had an F150 or something, I get it. But with a dually diesel truck it's totally worth pulling the extra weight for the comfort of a big trailer to work in/ sleep in/ throw AC on and enjoy. That's just my opinion though, you do you man! Always enjoy the content.

@Jack Hoffmen well, you gotta figure he went from a simple flatbed open car trailer to a big ole fifth wheel enclosed car trailer, its just a completely different animal to tow, hard to adjust to a trailer that empty weighs probly twice as much and instead of having barely any drag, it feels like you have a giant brick behind you. its like going from pulling a 4x8 mower trailer with ur F-150 and then go get the 6x10 uHaul and drag that thing around

Your planning on doing cross country events keep the big trailer put ac in it and that way you can sleep in it and you have room to work on the car if you break something.. trust me it’s always better to have “extra” room cuz you always fill up the trailers racin it is what it is also add an external oil cooler to the damn truck lol

You can always leave some empty space in a big trailer if not needed, but you can't enlarge space in a smaller trailer when needed... Thus, I think you should keep the current one 🙂 It might be a bit of a project, but I think the trailer would look amazing with a coat of gloss white paint and with all those aluminium or steel edges being polished 😁 Might be a bit of an overkill for a trailer, but it would definitely be a perfect match for the truck 👌

yah, I figure if you took out the 2k lbs of stuff, the trailer would weight just about as much as most 5th wheel enclosed trailers....or 500 lbs more then most 28ft bumper pull trailers.... enclosed trailers are just heavy.... all that plywood sides and top ain't light... its just gonna be different from an open trailer no matter how you slice it, its a brick

Taylor..... listen to the folks in the comment section. I read about 100 of them, and not 1 person said "Hell ya man, i had a goose neck and went to a bumper pull and never looked back, that goose sucked"!!! There is a reason that the Goose neck trailers are more desirable trailers. They are superior in nearly every way.... And you may have yourself a couple extra feet of space at this exact moment, but that won't last i can assure you. keep your trailer, make some upgrades if there are areas you are unhappy with it, and roll on. You will regret getting rid of it, I assure you!!!!! You have a truck MORE than capable of pulling that trailer, don't get caught up in an extra 1,000lbs and 4ft of space.....

Should give the trailer an acid bath. I work on big rig trailers and wash them when we’re done with them for customers. It works superb. You can put the acid wash in a foam cannon set up so it dilutes it a little bit, scrub it down with a car brush and pressure wash it off, it will clean those panels spotless.

*Full strength Purple Power with a foam mop works.* Hose the trailer down and start cleaning. Do not let it dry before rinsing or it will leave streaks where it runs off. Do one panel at a time, the longer the purple power sits, the whiter it gets. 100% positive it works, i used to clean a fleet of Super 16's with it.

Look into an auxiliary transmission cooler in addition to the one in the radiator. If you already have an auxiliary cooler get a bigger one. Higher trans temps will increase coolant and oil temps. Take the trailer to a Blue Beacon at a truck stop.

The number one thing that's killing it & making things heat up. Those big ass wheels & adapters. They weigh so much more then stock wheels & tires making the truck work harder without a trailer then your pulling a huge trailer. Try & get your hands on some stock wheels for the truck & see what happens?

Have done a trip out west to Colorado with similar setup vs. Open deck 24' bumper pull trailer with same tools and truck. IMO the 5th wheel trailer towed better and handled way better over long periods of highway. Back was less sore from constant bucking compared to bumper pull. Your combined weight is right around where I'm at with my f350 dually and 38ft enclosed 5th wheel. Trailer weighs roughly 8k. Empty setup I was 14k even. Loaded with generator, spare tires, tools/parts, and a 5500lbs truck I was 20k. My last setup with the 24' open deck and a truck topper on the back of the truck for my tools weighed in at 14k loaded truck and trailer as well.

I hate saying this, because I'm not a big fan, but call the RV Center in Columbia City Indiana they carry a streak off that is made for them by Warsaw chemical, the stuff is amazing no other streak remover product comes close. Wear some ratty clothes and tape off the fenders and trim so it doesn't make like oxidized streaks on then. Do a10ft section at a time with just your scrub brush and whatever soap you use we always used O'Reilly's wash and wax while your washing it spray five or six squirts in that 10' section and be amazed. Keep up the killer content thanks

I noticed on the 7.3 it has absolutely no airbox so your cold air intake is sucking hot engine air. You should find a 7.3 battery box and an intake cover because the drivers side battery box has a intake that comes from right near the headlight which is cooler air coming in. Itll help lower egts some lowering your overall temps a little. It doesn't seem like much but itll help and it's a super simple thing to do. Also I tried to dm you a thing on Instagram about oil temps and what people normally see. If you see it go up to 240-260 on a hot day uphill it wouldnt be uncommon although your new rad and oil cooler did a ton already it seems

I might have an idea for your trailer to get it cleaner. If its aluminum siding with paint on it you could get a mild hydrofluoric acid solution, mix it 1:5 with water and brush it on like youre hand washing then pressure wash it off. Thats what we do for the trailers in the winter up here in the PNW and they come out looking like new. Just wear gloves and glasses and you should be fine

Try taking your trailer to a truck wash. One meant for semis. They'll use some HEAVY DUTY cleaners on it and make it look better. Every time I go to the truck wash, they make my truck look better than it ever did. I could never wash it myself and get the same results. The cleaner they use is typically supposed to be mixed with water, they don't dilute it.

Thoughts on your oil heating issue. The truck is on 24s and looks awesome. My thought is, how much taller are those tires than factory? If they're more than an inch, what about the rear gearing? Maybe the engine is getting worked harder than it needs too. Typically when you go to a larger diameter tire size, you should change the rear gearing from like a 373 to like a 410 or 456 to compensate. Just a thought. Great channel!

How to weight a truck and trailer? What I did to get trailer weights was to take three different CAT scales, with my truck fully loaded with the # of people that typically travel with me, and the max weight cargo in the trailer. This is as close as you're going to for an accurate scale. And BTW CAT scales usually always have 3 scales for the big rigs. I ended up just using 2 of the 3 for my scales. Purpose? I scaled my truck and trailer 'cuz, like you, I just wanted to know what weights I was working with. 1st scale=both truck and trailer tires on the big scale=gross vehicle weight combined. Tells me what the gross weight is I'm trying to move, and confirms I'm in compliance with the truck's capabilities. 2nd scale=I moved the truck up to the second scale and kept the trailer on the 1st scale. Trailer is attached to the truck. This tells me what the weight is on the tongue. It'll tell you what the trailer weight is when connected. (you have three axles, you'll likely never have to worry about going over your combined trailer axle's capacity. 3rd scale= I disconnected the truck from the trailer. This scale tells me exactly how much my truck weighed, and exactly how much my trailer weighed. Those three scales can give you a lot of information. It can tell you if you're over 26,001 pounds where you have to have a CDL license to technically drive the truck when loaded, and it will tell you how much your trailer weighs when not connected, and when it's connected to the truck, how how of the weight is transferred to the truck via the hitch. Good stuff, I hope that helps.

Did you change the water pump? Maybe check to see if the trailer brakes are dragging. You have a large amount of weight in tools and tires you should weigh it totally empty and then again with tools and tires to get a true idea of how heavy your cargo is. Talk to a specialist for some ideas. Adding large oil coolers with fans might help.
