Why, though ?? If it was a centrefire, and a fairly big one, i.e. 7mm/300PRC then sure; weight = recoil management. Even perhaps a long day of F-class/PRS a .308 gets a bit tiring on the shoulder. But so many are running 6.5 XYZ or even 6mm XYZ, with so little recoil, and 3,4,5 chambered muzzle brakes . tuners as well. That doesn't require recoil management all that much. Yes, I'm aware that in PRS you need to spot your own misses so you can calculate holdovers/ windage corrections... but a 9 or 10kg rifle? In F-class, the rifle sits there for the stage/ course of fire. we only needed to slug them back and forth from the line inbetween stages. With a PRS rifle, I strive to have a better "balance" of portability and shootability. (6.5 Lapua, with a .308 for backup gun in case of Tech issues.). I can honestly see no reason for a 10 kilo .22 rimfire in a PRS Rimfire type match. Recoil is already practically non-existent , plus brakes, tuners, and most ammo being subsonic... You still need to run around with it during the stage, handle it, manipulate it, operate it, juggle shooting bags, inflatable bags, bipods negotiate terrain/ obstacles etc, make sure you don't whack your $2000+ 1-kilo scope on ladder rungs or culvert tubes or tank barricades... wouldn't you prefer your rifle to me more... manageable ? My CZ 457 Long Range Precision is maybe 4 kilos, plus a bipod, and about 1.1 kilos for the scope. So let's be generous and call it 6 kilos. My Anschutz PRC rig started out at 3.7 kilos, plus kit,( bipod, rails, mounts , sling attachments, sling,) and again a heavy scope, and it's still under 7 kg with a full mag. You only get between 90 and 120 seconds on a stage... all that kit and weight adds-up to lost time. Why so much mass for your .22 ? Really curious.

@@scottcrawford3745 The idea is to eventually have a 22LR that is a carbon copy of a CF PRS rifle. I am interested in getting a Curtis Custom Valor Action and using it to build a 6.5 Creedmoor and then getting the 22LR conversion kit for it and use it for both my 6.5 and 22. My trigger cam lived on the back of my scope permanently, so that adds another 500g that made my rifle tail heavy, so I had to add weights to the front to get it to balance out. For my rifle to balance perfectly with my loadout, it needs full internal weights and two sets of external weights right at the front of the chassis. So for my gun to balance, I had to make it heavier.

Well thought out. I completely understand. In fact, I think the one fellow in this video , (The lad with the red hair/beard) seemed to have 2 rifles that appeared very similar, right down to the muzzle brake. Carry on. You've got this!
