I see you fire up the burners but never mention water circulation. I've got one of these Weil Mcains (with a circ' pump just replaced about 4 years ago), which I have replaced Honeywell control heads on all 3 heat zones, since we've moved in to the house in '08, and one of them twice. House was about 15 years old in '08, so original install was approximately '93 (carry the "1"). We've been limping on a bad auto fill valve by connecting a water source to the purge spigot and "back filling". I've been doing this since a local technician replaced the pump and air bleed on the furnace and told me that the fill valve wasn't filling the system because "it tripped and needed replacing". It's a simple common valve that today sells for $150 in a combo with a check valve. It took him two visits to replace the pump after he kinked the bottom gasket and didn't carry replacements. I didn't hire him to replace the fill valve because: 1. He screwed up the pump gasket, 2. Wanted to charge me for the extra visit he caused by - A. Screwing up the gasket & B. not keeping such a common gasket handy in his vehicle 3. Told me it would cost over $600 to replace the fill valve. 4. After a protracted argument over the attempt to bill me for his mistake, he offered a "heartfelt apology" for not taking responsibility... but helped himself to 2 $14 bottles of wine off a small rack I keep in the basement while I was going to the bathroom. [This is all typical of local construction/service businesses] [Back to the present-ish] The boiler pressure always crashes over the summer when the heat doesn't come on, so I back fill to about 15-18lbs pressure, and it holds through the heating season ...needle doesn't drop a hair until some time after the AC gets turned on! So currently, pump doesn't seem to be coming on... Never mind! It's circulating heat. Pump sure is quiet!... 🤣😛

I have an older (probable mid 80s) Weil McClain natural gas furnace that seems to not fire after any kind of power outage. A simple off and back on the emergency power switch solves the problem. No problems besides that. My concern is when I’m out of town for a few days it can get real cold real quick. Any recommendations on a fix? And thermostats are battery powered.

I wonder what is the most likely diagnosis and repair of a CG5 that will not start although the pilot is still light?

Your heatung systems are so antiquated & about 40 years behind the times & all health hazards , old conventional flues . Basic boilers I was fitting back in the 70's !! Admittedly not much to go wrong with them stat gas valve & thermocouple that's about it in them ! Probably about 50 % efficient and cost a fortune to run. Landlords don't want to pay any money to replace them either. Which in the long term costs them more due to your frequent call outs !! In some ways your at the pinnacle of techno,ivy in the states but in plumbing & heatung your products are so far behind the times compared to the uk & European products. Check out valiant .co.uk there boilers are different class & so much better than that Navien rubbish you fit . Also they cost double the price for you as to what they cost us here. Once you start fitting them you won't go back. Here's hoping your industry starts to catch up. Keep up the good work Chuck & for keeping it real & honest . A lot of guys in the uk would of condemned those boilers. Unsafe & health risks .
