Race winning brands is the private equity group that you are speaking of, they are screwing up all the entire HiPerformance market today. As far as CHI and CID and Higgins I was involved in their port designs and manifolds also. CID is in Minnesota and the castings come from Profiler, I hope that helps.

Great video Eric. Some really good information and opinions based on your experience. One head that I keep looking at for the Cleveland is the Scott Cook SCM heads. Another Australian head, but developed to look externally identical to the original Ford head, but in aluminium, and with a number of different port and combustion chamber options. Thanks again. I ordered my Higgins sbf heads directly from them. Stand up people and excellent products. Zach Smith at ZSR engines in Missouri is now a dealer. He only does Ford engines though. He’s also a good dude. Ordered a lot of parts from him and when the time comes he at least do the machining and possibly the assembly.

RHS was a porting service back in the day. They started Comp Cams in the sixties. Then the tail wagged the dog in the 80's and Comp Cams shut the doors on RHS. In the early 20's Comp bought the Pro Topline foundry in New Zealand and revived the RHS name. I have RHS heads on my 351W stroker 389, unfortunately times have not been good for RHS once again, I believe they have disappeared.

Back in the day before for sbc iron heads it was the pro Topline heads😎 neighbor had a stock block iron headed sbc (408) made 650hp na. Also had a 200 shot single stage. Ran 9.80 na and 8.90 with the spray in a foxbody notch. Those old school pro Topline heads were sweet. Can’t find them anywhere now. It’d be like finding gold. Pretty sure when this motor was running in the mid 00’s those heads were already out of production and bought out 10 years earlier. Now it’s the known RHS pro action stuff but I’m not 100% sure if the heads are as good as they were when the New Zealand company was making them back in the 90’s, and I don’t think they even make an iron head anymore. Maybe I’m wrong.

The one thing i was always impressed with was Afr exhaust port flow. They werent huge cc but for sbf exhaust port flow is so good even compared to other aftermarket pieces. One company you didnt list is Performance world. It looks like a Canadian company that domestically machines foreign castings. They have HUGE cathedral ls heads that use offset ls3 rockers and have a 252cc intake port. They also have regular gen1 castings and huge rec port ls3 castings as well. I dont expect a set of these to cross your bench.

Excellent video Sir! Much of what you said I have heard from others in the industry... I think your assessment was really good and honest with all the brands and You're 110% correct about firms and the threat of them buying out some of these "stand alone" companies. It sucks but like you said, someone throws a bunch of money at you-what are you gonna do? My hope (like everyone else's)is that AFR, Brodix & Profiler stay strong and keep "doing them" so to say. I am surprised though that TF especially since they are owned by Summit don't have their own foundry. That I was not aware of 🤔

It's a street application so I'm looking for power gains throughout the power range. From what I have read/researched, folks are upgrading to the AFR 195 heads with an applicable cam (comp XE274). In this video you mentioned that Profiler makes the best sbc head in your opinion; is that for street or race applications? Or both? Thanks in advance! Just subscribed and have been looking through your library but can't seem to find anything on the AFR V2 Heads. Purchased a set of 335 for a twin turbo race motor. I was told the AFR had .250 more meat on the deck so works best on turbo applications. AFR were super supportive even going as far as swapping out springs due to the lighter rates on the as sold Heads. AFR are really great to work with IMO. Originally had a set of Dart Pro One of the same size that needed work. Tried to get them refreshed at Dart (World Mach.) And couldn't even get them to answer. I would appreciate any ideas you may have. Mark Samford in Abilene massaged em lightly. (Guides/chambers)

Interested in knowing your opinion on who makes the best sbc 23 degree head. From a perspective of out the box to potential to for room to grow for all out hp. (My non professional opinion is afr)

Brodix heads have the greatest potential after porting. If you push AFR heads hard with porting you hit water.

Let me ask you a question years ago I bought a 1967 nova ss with a super high reving small block like 10,000. Rpm high on the build sheet the heads were listed as brownfield heads the castings were brodex was brownfield a porting guru or have you ever heard of him or that company

I would say stock for stock unported in my opinion if you just want to bolt on a head and go drag racing with a sbf its afr. Followed closely by trickflow 11r. Now ported that changes a bit but im running old school svo y303 heads that have been opened up so much they are almost unrecognizable from the stock version 😂
