Really find your information interesting. I just replaced my AFR 190's I purchased back in 2001 with a set of AFR 195 Competition port. My old heads had been ported and I flowed tested a few years ago they were pretty good. INT. .200 144.5, .300 207.11, .400 250.32, .500 270.43, .600 268.2. Ext. 116.18 158.57 183.69 194.68 199.39 I installed the new AFR 195's, I also improved my exhaust by changing my header collectors and pipe from 2.5" to 3" . With the head and the exhaust change I picked up 23 peak rwhp and 26 rwtq at peak. It made more power from 3,400 rpm all they way to 6,200. From 4000 rpm-6000, with the old AFR/exhaust the avg. rwhp 376 & rwtq 396, new AFR's/exh made avg. 399 rwhp & 422 rwtq. This is a 383, XFI-280 and TPiS MiniRam intake manifold. I'm sure some of the power was from the exhaust changes but I think the combination together worked well. I like the oil returns on the new AFR's they are better positioned which helps the valve covers seal. One issue I had that I was not impressed with was there was aluminum flashing I had to remove to get my push rods in the correct position. Just thought you might find this interesting,. Thanks for doing these informative videos.

Eric, Really appreciate these videos! Especially this one as I am running older ARR #1040 SBC heads ony current setup. It's nice to see older performance heads mentioned and talked about by a head porter like yourself. All the new stuff is awesome but there are still those of us on a tight budget so knowing guys like You still think these heads hold value & have potential is Great news😁👍 Thanks again for stopping Your own work flow each time and making videos

I remember those articles as well.. People now go all "BUG EYES" when you say how you could easily get 500+HP out of a 350 std bore when even Scoggin Dickey was doing it with GM Fastburns and the comp XE-294-HR10 cam back in the day! 535HP if i am not mistaken in their late 60's camaro drag car they had. Plenty of articles with 383's and the older AFR heads with the Comp XE-288HR-10 cam making 520HP/503FTLB TQ also with 9.5:1 Comp... I built a 350CI with those 190cc heads which were and flowed about IDENTICAL to the 195's then and the comp XE-282-HR10 with a 112* LSA and it runs 11's NA in a buddies 92 Z28 Thirdgen Camaro (FULL WEIGHT) as he bought the combo from me in 2004.. Only thing with "D PORTS" and Thirdgens is finding a good larger primary shorty header that fits them well. Not many options for it. I hope someone will send you some GM Fastburns to flow, i am really interested to see "REAL WORLD" CFM of those.... I got them on my ZZ430 clone.

Hey Eric, Tim here....yes, i have a set of those horrible casting Kauffman heads, on my 462......they flow great, and make excellent power, but the pepper is ALL OVER the casting.......now for my NA Deal, it dont seem to cause a prob....but YES ...altho i LOVE my dudes at Kauffman, the porosity is horrid........yet, their D-port head is light-years Ahead of anything Edelbrock.......i've enjoyed YEARS of NA Success with my Kauffmans.........still, Edelbrock hasn't been able to touch my Kauffman D-ports........casting issues aside, the Pontiac Kauffman D-port head has netted me 10:90's, on pump gas......u have the 310 program......i can go up to 360........and i'm intrested in it........TY Sir.......yes my Kauffmans exhibit the EXACT characteristic you describe....but have netted GREAT #'s at the track... HAIL KAUFFMAN!!

Sweet video, I’ve put many miles on a set of afr 210 street port heads, one day I’m going to refresh them and port the intake to see how much it gains

Did you back cut the intake valves? I'm curious if the old one beat the new one at .300 with or without a back cut.

That head was likely ported only on a 3 axis with a rotating table.

Looking at the comp port, I'm really surprised at how much it backs up from .600-.700". So really, just like the street port, they are limited to around .600", out of the box.

Interesting as always 👍 Do you have any tips on what one can do when the port area and bowl size is bigger than the engine need for the ci and intended rpm? Is there any trick one can do if stuck with a head like that?

I know it's a stupid question to ask for a price quote over the internet but how much would it cost to do the same thing to my year 2000 AFR 210cc RR heads? Just a ballpark figure

Ordered a set of 195 Enforcer heads a month or so ago and they are completely different castings than the AFR 195 Street Port's that I ordered just a year ago. NO AFR logo in the castings other than the logo on the ends of the outsides of the heads. Just saying...

CNC Porting even nowdays may save time however I always go through and clean them up with Sand pink stone then finnish it with a paper "flapper" up to 80 grit. What is your opinion Eric? Do you do the same thing?
