I wouldn't call them ridiculous, they're standard working class English, I do find some of the lingo that the toffs use as a somewhat ridiculous

walked on oxford street mate, felt like a geezer, saw this bird, looked a bit barmy but dishy, thought "go have a chin wag, bog standard", must have been too lairy, cheesed her off.

In the North East we have a saying "sick as a chip" meaning to be fed up or distraught. Nobody knows where it originates.

I think lairy usually implies alcohol is implied , or at least it does where i come from. Beauty of britain 2 miles makes all the difference

Funny! In America, a geezer is usually used for older people and depending on the context, it can be a negative word or positive word. Examples: Negative: "I want nothing to do with that ol'e geezer." Positive: "I'm off to the retirement home to hang with them ol'e geezers."

Being an American myself who watches a lot of British KZfaqrs, I somehow manage to figure out the meaning of the slang words myself. Being a native speaker of English, it’s not hard to understand the meaning of these words.

Dishy is similar to what I use for the same meaning- delicious. That British lad, Tom Hiddleston, is dishy😉

Only geezer was a common word used in my New England upbringing. Dishy was not used but referring to an attractive woman as a “dish” was.

"Dishy" seems to be a variation of a Mid Century American phrase of "A dish", meaning an attractive woman.

Canadians often say cheesed off, dishy, or geezer. We might say chin wag or tongue wag.
