I read this was a weird law in Kansas. If two trains meet on the same track, traveling in opposing directions, neither shall move until the other has passed. I picture perpetually trapped trains facing each other.

In pennsylvania there's an "old law" when driving down the road and you see a horse drawn carriage(amish mostly) and if you startle the horse with a motorized vehicle you have to shoot a flare and then dismantle the car and throw it in a bush, and cover with tarp

In Louisiana it's Illegal to steal a person's alligator- and you can get up to 10 years in jail...👴🙄 You also can't tie your pet alligator to a fire hydrant.

That Russian bit is false, Sam had a correction in the video, but annotations aren't a thing on YT anymore, so it's gone. Also the salmon thing is UK was introduced because people used to smuggle stuff inside them big fishes.

Technically there is an area in Idaho where you can not be tried for any crime. As part of a national park (Yellowstone) it is under federal jurisdiction with the court being in Cheyenne, Wyoming. However under the 6th amendment you would need a local jury from Idaho and also in the same jurisdiction, which is impossible because nobody lives there. The area is called the Zone of Death

Some state laws are great. In one state it is illegal to put an ice cream cone in your back pocket on Sunday. Another it is illegal to ride an ugly horse. At least 2 states that are landlocked it is illegal to kill whales.

Oklahoma is rampant with these. Not only is it illgeal to bite into another man's hamburger in Oklahoma, it's also illegal to eat a burger walking backwards in downtown Oklahoma City. at least they had to decency to make whaling illegal in the landlocked state.

My hometown of Joliet, Illinois has a couple weird ones. For context to both, Joliet used to be the last/first/closest real town of any big significance outside Chicago for the area back in the 1900's. Around 40-50 minutes out. In the teens and 30's they were having two problems. People from Chicago/towns along the I&M Canal coming down and "causing rabble" and the bank robberies happening all over the Midwest. So for one, it is illegal to mispronounce the town name of Joliet (Joe-lee-et), punishable my a small (IIRC $25) fine. People usually mistake it for Jolly-et or Juliet (Romeoville is a town not to far). Second, it is illegal to enter the city limits on the highway (there was only one real main highway back then) without first phoning the sheriff. Not getting permission, just calling them up and saying you are entering. I'm not sure that the second way ever enforced, but the first hasn't been a charge since the 30s or something.

Sorry, Matt can excel in every genre under the sun because he constantly practices a wide range of styles and sounds. Neil’s great for what he is, but he’s one-dimensional next to Greiner. That’s not hate or bias, that’s objective truth.

4 laws still on the books in Michigan.. it is illegal for a fat woman to ride a horse in public....it is illegal to talk to a horse in public..it is illegal to open an umbrella in the presence of a horse. a horse still has the right of way over a pedestrian.
