A poorly insulated cable is now an antenna. We used to use paperclips to receive both digital and analog over the air TV, and the same works with FM. I'm 26 and knew about this my whole life :o

Its just an old AM station thats broadcasting on the same frequency that the coils inside your phono preamp are tuned to.
