Many years ago the Meddling Gods were successful in their efforts to claim exclusivity of magic - meaning that (with a few minor exceptions) the only magic that exists belongs to those who draw power from the divine: clerics. It was discovered that for reasons unknown, an isolated area in the wilderness is a blind spot for the gods. Transgressions go unseen, blasphemies go unpunished and perhaps most importantly - clerics are cut off from their source of power.
Our journey begins with 5 travelers as they approach the "Cusp", the vague line that - when crossed - leaves clerics powerless and outcasts to their own devices.

Okay, I watch a lot of dnd actual play shows. I mean a LOT. Critrole, d20, legends of Avantris, dndads, adventure zone, unprep casters, and so many others. This single episode has what has to be the most immersive dms I’ve ever listened to. This isn’t one guy playing a child and a carriage driver and a brigand… this is a child, a carriage driver, and a brigand existing on the road together. Amazing performance by everyone, but especially hats off to the dm!

Have you caught up with the episodes yet? The cast and Matt are doing incredible! Would like to know your thoughts on how the story has progressed so far, especially because the team have rp’ed the hell out of this campaign so far! Of course, Matt kept up his awesomeness and embodies every character he plays, men, women, children, animals, and Bisons. But GOD I am in love with this season particularly because every character is so lovable.

Not gonna do the whole rundown, but here's some things we know! • *Morna* • Barbarian 3 • Either Variant Human or Mark of ___ Human. • Ability Score Increases put towards Strength and Constitution. • 26 hit points. • *Doxley* • Fighter 3 • An Elf of some sort. • Ability Score Increases put towards Constitution (+1) and Dexterity (+2) • 30 hit points. • Guaranteed a Battle Master because she used both Trip Attack _and_ Precision Attack. • *T.C.* • Rogue 3 • A Human of some sort. • Ability Score Increases put towards Constitution and Dexterity if he is not a default Human. • 32 hit points. • Expertise in Perception. • Guaranteed a Thief because he used Fast Hands and Second-Story Work. • *Illien* • Fighter 3 • An Elf of some sort. • Ability Score Increases put towards Dexterity and Constitution. • 29 hit points. • Either a Battle Master or took the Superior Technique Fighting Style because he only showed off Commander's Strike. • Knows Infernal and Aquan. • *Kayt* • Monk 3 • Wood Elf. • Ability Score Increases put towards Dexterity and Wisdom. • 20 hit points. • Knows Elvish. I'm definitely on the boat of Doxley and Illien being Sea Elves, but teeechnically we haven't had the proven in any meaningful way yet. I also believe T.C. is a Variant Human. Also, undoubtedly there's homebrew here, so watch me suffer as I try to decipher what's going on, haha.

This is my first time watching this channel. I've tried watching Critical Role and somewhat enjoyed it until Player Character Deaths occurred. Then tried Dimension 20 and greatly enjoyed them until they restricted so much to paid content and went a little too far in campaigns. After that I tried watching other channels and their campaign streams. BUT H@TED their format with individual cameras. So enjoy this format with what seems like everyone is in the same location. Hopefully I'm not disappointed.

So excited for this new campaign! I started watching campaign 1 about a year ago or so, but ended up falling off cuz I had so much to catch up on and real life was making it hard to binge episodes. Ended up making it to the gang’s first mission into a myconid harvesting yard before I had to drop it, but I enjoyed it all so much along the way! Now I’m really pumped to be able to watch this campaign and keep up with it! I saw the debut on Twitch last Sunday and loved it! From the INCREDIBLE opening by Matt to the exciting moments of meeting everyone’s characters. I was a little apprehensive about the setting being particularly low magic and that none of the player characters were a magic casting class, but knowing how campaign 1 was full of custom abilities and stuff for each character, I’m sure Matt has something up his sleeve to keep things balanced and entertaining. Plus, the Wild West setting is really cool! Anyways, super excited to see more from you all! Can’t wait for Sunday!

Already watched the premiere on Twitch. Very fun and interesting! Great job! I like the layout of the background, and DM location when in map view. Only thing I would say is : the tack strings are a little thin, kept me guessing for a few minutes there which character was who. The new cast members are going to be awesome. Along with, of course, the continued awesomeness of the previous regulars.

new viewer here: i saw in another tabletopnotch reply that said this campaign was an alternate timeline from the previous campaign, do i need to watch the previous campaign to understand what's going on here? what's the sparknotes basically? could you go into a bit more detail besides what's in the description? or maybe even make a spoiler-y summary video of campaign 1 so others can be a little more caught up? i understand that's a lot of work and i'd understand if you didn't want to, but i thought i'd throw the idea out there anyways. i'm digging the brunkhollow vibes so far though. cheers!

Ask and you shall receive! We actually have a playlist like that, which summarizes the events of the first half of campaign one (we call that “Season 1”). But you don’t even need to watch that whole playlist. Just watch Orba and Graven’s recaps - those deal with the gods of the world. The gods are the only thing that really carry over to this next campaign and only just a little bit. Great first episode while i catch up on the previous season, amazing setting and, most importantly, amazing characters and storytelling! A single tiny change i would suggest: i don't know if it's on purpose, but i find it a bit off putting that in the scenes in which a map or a battle is shown, the camera shots are arranged so that anyone is always looking away from each other. Maybe there's a reason i didnt get but having studied composition in photography and filmmaking i would suggest switching them, both for clarity and connection with the viewer. Keep up this level; again an amazing prologue to what i bet will be a great story. 💚

thanks for the kind words! And i hear you on the battlemap comp. Sadly there’s no way to get it completely cohesive so we decided to center the eyelines around Matt, so the players’ eyes are always in relation to him

Sincere question... Why dont you use the digital map to illustrate the scene directly? Like, even before everyone rolls initiative? Is it bc, if it resolves in a peaceful dialogue you save the time?

at times we do, when move speed and other technical elements inform things. I’m not the DM but I do know Matt likes to rely on the theater of the mind a lot. So I think sometimes he just lets us picture it. once time needs to slow, we roll initiative and show a board. Or if we are preparing a space for an enounter (like scouting or setting traps) we’ll go straight to the map

Alot of dnd can be improvised based and because of that illustrating all scenes would be just a different digital form, like TV or movies. Plans change alot in dnd so not being so set on a particular idea is important. Once you bring those digital elements there had to be a scripted element which isn't what role-playing is about.

@@SeanHollandTV I had my fair share of rolling... i know. I just asked. bc the description of that scene led to a little misunderstanding between the players... nothing wild but could have been prevented if the scene was illustrated right away. Where which guard is, isnt improvised further on.

I couldn’t keep up with the first campaign and was so thrilled for the new one .. The tabletop notch is really the best. But the realisation Riley and John won’t be here hit hard. I loved them so much 😭. edit: I have went back and found the episode when they left, wow, that is even sadder .. I thought you just decided to shake up the cast for one season, but to see them leave .. They were such an integral part of the community ever since it all began, I have been there on the first episodes .. I just hope you guys have stayed friends between each other 😭😭

It’s on our channel under the “A Peak Beneath the Veil” playlist. The first season is 100 episodes and the second season (just a continuation of the story but with a big review in case people wanted to start there instead of all the way back in the beginning). I will warn you: it was our first show and we had no money so the audio and video are not like this campaign. But it improves rather quickly!
