We all use to run in packs like this as kids/teens but somewhere between 17 to 25 this crap gets old. Some of us get older around 18 to 25 and realize our hidden dreams and goals have nothing in common with the people we hung with as kids/teens.

These kids only hangout because of close proximity. As they get older, most of them will probably part ways and move on to bigger and better things. Sadly, not all of them will even make it to 25.

I am from Fort Greene Projects, and I moved away after my grandmother passed in 2001. I said that if my grandma was not there, neither will I. The gentrification began when the MetroTech Project was conceived in the 1970's and by the time 1989 came along, the project was already in progress. I love my home place, but not enough to move back or visit. But I'm glad that FG was represented in a manner that doesn't constantly bring up negative points.

All jokes aside...none of these young men never thought about going to college? How could you be comfortable living like this day after day? I'm black, and when I lived in the BX, I was putting in all the work I could to make a better living for myself. The world is leaving my young black brothers behind, and it's so sad. These young men have no skills, ambition for the wrong things, and good deli's! The average cost of living is on the up & up, and they're just staying pat. Hopefully there's one youngin that's in those projects, that we didn't get the chance to see who makes a change someday.

The wild thing is that right outside of that radius of a few blocks are expensive apartments and mass gentrification. If you're not from NY, you'd never think that exists in such close proximity. Yet people who are raised in the projects tend to stay there. They post up outside in that one area. It's a mindset that keeps them there. I hope these Black men and women find their purpose and go beyond it. There's SO much more --- That Deli does pop though. The chopped turkey and tuna sandwiches go hard.

We could've been banded together to lift these communities up and keep our brothas in check for literal decades. Like 30, 40, 50 years. And we STILL have our folks glamorizing violence and gang activity. But then when these big companies start pushing us out of these neighborhoods to gentrify them, we complain and raise pitchforks. Sad to even see some 10 or 11 year old kid shout "Free iNasty". I'm so tired of this. We're gonna continue being looked down on for years and years

Back in the days (80s and 90s), you did not want to walk through the Fort. There weren’t many places in NYC then where you could be shot with no questions asked. Most places might beat you down or rob you and shoot as a last resort. But the Fort, ENY, Vanderveer, etc , you could be shot just for being an unfamiliar face. They had some nice Ladies out there too.

Another fantastic vlog and another hello from your fan in Australia. I may never have the chance to visit these places and meet these people in person, so it's awesome to at least be able to 'meet' them through these videos. The dude in the shiny, blue jacket, in particular, is an excellent narrator, great natural journalist/reporter. Also loved to hear another guy saying about how we should, instead of killimg each other, build together. Wise words, and that message is vital for the whole world - black, Hispanic, white, Asian, etc.; this hood, that hood, whatever your religion; country, gender, sexuality, etc. Peace and good vibes to all you people in this vlog.

Oldheads from around there would tell me in the 70s the other side of the park with the brownstones was actually wilder than the Ps.
