Despite how you feel about the 2007 Ghost Rider movie, it did spawn a tie-in video game. The game takes place after the events of the movie and follows Ghost Rider as he attempts to stop the demons of Hell from taking over the world. Not only do you get to play as Ghost Rider in the game, but you can also unlock Blade as a fully playable character. However, since this was a movie tie-in game, it rushed to meet the deadline of the films release, which hindered some of it's creativity. So in this video, we'll analyze how the game was made, walk through the story, and discuss the best and worst parts of Ghost Rider the game. I hope you enjoy!
Always Nerdy is a KZfaq channel dedicated to all things nerdy and Marvel, with a focus on Marvel Gaming properties such as Marvel's Avengers and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series. Retrospectives are a new series I've started, so more are on the way as well!

This is one of those rare occurrences where the game is actually better than the movie, yet 2000's Marvel seemed to pull it off so often. Actually going to mythical locations, facing off against classic Ghost rider villains like Vengeance and Blackout, coming across Blade ( eventually actually being able to play as him), and comic accurate designs!! you can always tell they cared about the character when playing these games.

I noticed how a bunch of reviewers started to review this obscure PS2 Ghost Rider game for some reason. I'd oughta try it. I wish this game could be what the developers envisioned it to be. Bike combat like DMC 5, Wolverine cameo, and a more in depth fighting system. Nonetheless, the game looks like fun, and I'll play it on a emulator sometime.

My favorite thing about this game’s combat is a bit of tech you can do where you can cancel most of your animations into a block and use that as a means of extending more elaborate combos you might come up with because after that block cancel you can transition into anything else you want whether it be the specific grab attacks or say, you want to transition from your standard light attacks to your standard heavy attacks. I love these sorts of action games a lot so these kinds of options do a lot for me.

Blade being unlockable gives me serious nostalgia vibe for the Raimi Spiderman tie in for the first movie. Beating hardest difficulty unlocked Harry Osborne as the Green Goblin, complete with voiceover and new special abilities and all. None of the cutscenes worked and all, but it's great that they did that, even so much as recontextualizing the story a little bit for Harry.

I would love a new Ghost Rider game, especially since Ghost Riders chain combat would fit so well with an Arkham/God Of War 4 style system. I can imagine all the different cosmetics and things that could come with it, such as the Reyes Ghost Rider with the muscle car or the original appearance white phantom looking Ghost Rider who rode a horse. The vehicle mobility could be absolutely insane. Imagine absolutely gunning down the street before jumping the bike into the air off a car. In mid air, you go into an aiming mode, and point at a group of thugs on a roof, which uses your chain as a grappling hook, launching you towards them and banishing the bike . You beat their ass, using the penance stare on the last one, before you walk off the side of the building, landing on the bike which is parked vertically on the wall, and boosting down the wall and off to fight more goons and demons.

This Game actually looks pretty damn Awesome and I would play it if it gets a remastered version like The Punisher Video Game you reviewed and I have played it but I never got to to finish it so this game becomes playable again I would definitely pick up my controller and play as The Spirit of Vengeance!

I remember playing more of the Gameboy Advanced game because that's what I had access to as a smol boi. Overall the game was pretty simplistic; a side-scrolling adventure with platforming and demon killing while combining punches and chain attacks, sprinkled with levels on the Hell Cycle in a similar fashion to what the console game entails. The one major difference I remember is that the cutscenes seemed to have a lot more explanation in them and that the main boss fight wasn't actually Blackheart but the real Mephisto. He morphs into a giant demon head that breathes fire and smashes his fists on you but that's ALL you see of him, hinting that either Mephisto is living shadow or is so big that that's all that can be made out from his grand size. I would have personally preferred Mephisto being the final boss in this game as well but seeing comic-accurate Blackheart isn't so bad either.

I’ve seen the film some years ago and do remember it being a mix of good and bad, yet the guy at 8:24 is meant to be Mephisto? The father of Nightcrawler? The guy who teleports people and drops them from somewhere high for a living?! The guy is mephisto?! Now to find the movie and rewatch it since my opinion has been corrupted over the years by how some people seem to hate the Cage transformation, but I do remember him being a total badass in the films. How come Ghost Rider hasn’t had a solo game in so long? Is because that being a guy who literally dealt with the devil, they deem it impossible to make a game for? I will edit this comment after finishing watching the video Edit: The game is badass and deserves a remake with the features of the PSP port! Who knew marvel also had their own Scarecrow? I like the game design better than the comic one. Though I do feel that the Scarecrow of DC found this guy and tried to copy this scarecrow’s fear-like design since he got jealous. Plus am I the only one who thinks that Scarecrow in the game acts similarly to Joker?

Azazel is Nightcrawler’s father, not Mephisto.
@insaneedoko999
@insaneedoko999 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuaward3646 aw crap! Thnx for the fix! I didn’t realise the error until now! 😅😅😅 I don’t think I knew Nightcrawler’s father’s name as the only thing I knew about him was what I said then. And that was from a clip from X-men first class, plus after looking at Azazel I am surprised at how similar Mephisto and Azazel look, though only difference is one has a tail and one doesn’t (plus the whole teleport thing which is also not at the same time if memory is correct. I think Kurt’s teleportation has him travel to his kind’s home and then pop up at another place. Pls correct if wrong again as there is a lot of things in marvel I don’t know while it’s ironic that I’m a fan of marvel and there’s things I don’t know yet. At least Marvel’s multiverse is easier to understand than DC’s… well for me anyway as Marvel’s is more “sorted and organised”). Since when did marvel have their own Scarecrow?!!! Actually who done scarecrow first: Marvel or DC? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 We’ll never know until Deadpool decides to spill the beans since that’s what he does best Deadpool: Hey!!!

I have waited so long for this game to get the recognition it deserved. Not the greatest game in the world but for me it ate up my childhood when I first bought the PS2 and this game alongside it. I have been enjoying these retrospectives and have obviously subbed for more. I have one request, can you take a look at the Captain America game?

I think this is one of the first games I ever actually beat as a kid. And I even went back through with all the cheats on just to see how fast I could do it. And if I remember right, the night I finally beat it, I immediately started again and beat it that same night. Which was wild to me, bc I had been playing for what I remember being weeks. I would have been 7 when this came out, so I could be misremembering though lol.

If this game was made today, knowing that 2K published this game, all the unlockable skins would be paid dlc via overpriced premium currency like "Soul Gems" or "Soul Crystals" or some other stupid name like that. Blade would be flat out $20 dlc
