Her store isn't successful. None of these stores are. They're like arcades now. They're all dying and going under. There isn't enough people that has a need for an arcade or physical copies of games anymore. Only a few will use it and they aren't enough to keep a business open.
@michaelangst6078Ай бұрын
@@ebogar42 Obviously some of the stores have to be somewhat successful. I imagine their success highly depends on how populated the area is where the store is located. Florida has over 22 million people and is the third most populated state
@ebogar42Ай бұрын
@@michaelangst6078 I doubt many of them are that successful, if at all. They might make a little money to get by, but I doubt the store is ever packed. There might be millions in Florida, but I doubt even a million have an old console, or care about old games. Old games are cool to go back to for a few days, but most people aren't going to continue buying them all the time. A lot of the old stuff is now coming out on console marketplace too, so there won't be any need for a physical copy of a game in the future. There is a reason why Gamestop can't make it. It's the same reason every arcade died out. People just don't go that much anymore. They play at home and usually download games now. Most of the market are young kids, teens, and young adults that don't really care about the consoles we used to have. They might care about the ps2 or ps3, but that's about it. all of those games will eventually come out on the marketplace though, so no need to buy a ps2 or ps3.

Why love a dying business? I liked Arcades too and wish they were still around, but it's a terrible business idea just like this one in 2024. Nobody is going to Arcades anymore, and nobody is buying physical copies of games anymore either, or playing much of those older consoles.
@kevinnguyen3389Ай бұрын
@@ebogar42 I see plenty of older consoles and games being sold. A lot of people are buying them out of nostalgia. Physical games are also better. Yes, digital has its conveniences but you can share, trade or sell physical copies. And you generally own your game when it’s physical whereas you don’t really own digital games

Stores like this is what we need more of. At least once a year I stop into the local GameStop only to be reminded of why I don’t go there anymore. This is the kind of store that is not controlled by corporate greed with employees who are underpaid and under appreciated. I have so much to sell and so much that I want to buy as well. At least here I could feel good about supporting a local business.

I bought a Switch game from GameStop that was "new" online, then when i went to pick it up at the store, the clerk went to the display shelf to grab the game case, then opened a drawer behind the counter, searched for a while, then grabbed a game cartridge and the instruction booklet and placed them back into the case, and then put this into a bag and handed it to me. I was shocked. I paid new game price for an opened game. The only reason i didn't refund was because this game was hard to find "new". But GameStop needs to stop this practice of selling "opened display shelf" games for full MSRP price. The game box had dog-eared corners and was in rough shape from being on the display shelf for customers to grab for who knows how long.

I also had Little Samson, which i found out was worth thousands of dollars many years ago. To say i was a little pissed is an understatement.
