As someone who lives in southeast Wisconsin, I completely agree. I've been to Florida California lived in Arizona Kansas n Oregon, everywhere but the northeast but Illinois is by far the worst in the union.

I don't understand why you are pushing for people to move in specific towns/cities in Illinois. Illinois has one of the highest property taxes than any other state. If I remember correctly they are in the top 10 (?). I believe that Illinois has more corrupt governors than any other state. Several of them have gone to jail.

Illinois property taxes are actually in the top 5, if I'm not mistaken they're number 2, just behind California. I lived in illinois most of my life, and can tell you with absolute certainty that this is hands down the most corrupt state in America. I've only seen one governor get voted out of office, all the others were indicted. But they finally got rid of some of the cronyism and nepotism in the last few years. Mike Madigan is gone, so is everyone he appointed. Chicago is gonna stay fucked though, no one in their right mind wants that job. Even Rahm Emmanuel was smart enough to git while the gittin was good. Then they put Ole fish face in charge, and that was a fucking disaster. Now they've got Johnson, because apparently chicago would rather double down on a mistake than learn from it. And most local government is just as inept.

I work for a company that delivers high end furniture. I deliver to a lot of those homes in oak brook, willmette, winnetka, the loop, Barrington, Naperville just to name a few. There’s A LOT of money out there I can’t believe how many rich people are out there. Of course they don’t think they’re rich one bit hahaha. And I wanna say off my experience working with the “rich” over 70% of them are miserable. The other 30% are the best most genuine and generous people. I fell the miserable ones have family money from generations. And the nice people did it themselves. Hey that’s just me either way beautiful homes!

There way more money to be made in Scottsdale than Chicago 100%. More people with money, less distance to drive to meet them. Most business owners aren’t from there either so they’ll most likely have really good connections in other states. I’m from Chicago and moved to Phoenix and the difference in with is like Ohio and LA. Just not comparable. The car scene in Phoenix is unbeatable. And the taxes are next to nothing compared to Illinois. 14k a year property tax turned into 1.5k. People that are rich care about money, and people that care about money live in or move to lower taxing states. There’s way more to do in Phoenix too, more malls, more shopping, more people, more fun activities, simply a better environment. People say it’s the dessert, but when you live there it’s just paradise. It’s gets hot in the summer, but if you’re outside at 8am then you can be out all day without overheating. Take a trip there, if you like golf you’ll love it. If you don’t, you’ll still love it. There’s hiking, cliff jumping, boating, shopping, shooting, partying, golfing, not to mention business opportunities if you’re a people person, all around a better scenery than you’d think

@Lpm920 we relocated from Rockford in 2020. Best thing we could have done. I'm a disabled vet, so don't have to pay property tax in Illinois. That's pretty much the only reason we stayed in the state. Life is better in the small towns though. The schools are great, and the people are very friendly.

I go to Oakbrook/Lombard all the time for shopping and dinning. Oakbrook Shopping Center is one of the best Malls as they have many upscale stores. Live in Chicago-west side and it takes me about 30 minutes when traffic is good. It takes about 50 minutes to drive downtown on a good traffic day.

So lets do some math here, i work about a dollar above minimum here in Chicago, 16 dollars an hour, meaning around 25k a year lets call it. In 10 years, if nothing chnages, i would have 250k, intrest would bring that up to mabey 270k. It would take me 40 years to get to a house that size.

I live in Wisconsin about an hour north of there,and paid more for my house and its not as nice . We are just a nice suburb . A million doesn’t get you much anymore My house is fully paid for ,and I still would never shop at a luxury brand . I buy groceries at Walmart . Also, my house has basic stuff in it. This would leave me to believe this place isn’t that fancy, but maybe looks fancy . Our taxes are more and our schools are ranked better , but in my opinion better is subjective . I think the hs is too stressful and too much pressure on the kids . I used to commute to Chicago from SW suburbs of Milwaukee and drive through the neighborhoods . Lake Forest was nice .

My thoughts are I pay 1500 a year in taxes for a 1600 sq foot home and 1.10 acre of land just over the border. Plus no HOA fees and 5 star schools. Doesn’t matter where you’re at around cook county. The taxes are ridiculous. Beautiful homes for a certain crowd.

To me nothing in Illinois luxury because I hate the city it's flat with no hills or mountains and it's a lot of new construction.... The term luxury is a personal preference.... To me luxury is living up in the mountains a reasonable home about 3000 square feet overlooking The Valley with a shower on the deck a hot tub down the stairs on the Deck.... Neighbors are no closer than a quarter mile away if not farther❤ I would say Cazadero California is the ultimate place to live❣ You have the coast less than 10 minutes away you have the mountains you have the suburbs probably 20 minutes away Decent weather no humidity The people are friendly and non-judgmental. Very earthy organic and the wineries are close by❤

I didn't live there but I dated someone that did and spent a lot of time over there Illinois is huge but in my experience it sucks and it gets even worse in the city

I personally would never live in Oakbrook, when I visited a couple of weeks ago I never felt more isolated and out of touch, even in the mall (though it is a nice mall and worth visiting)! Oakbrook is a place for rich businessmen (and women, though I doubt many women have big jobs like that there) and their families to live, nothing more

The only suburb you'd actually wanna live in is Naperville. Every other suburb there isn't as much to do around town and they're pretty much "bedroom communities". Chicago is a toilet and just sucks in general. Hence why so many people have left the state to move to Florida. They literally have advertisements on TV in Florida promoting the state of Illinois itself. Not selling anything just some propaganda to try and sway people to move back
