Welding in Shock Tower Reinforcements in a 65 Mustang (Guy That Can't Weld)

Күн бұрынShock tower reinforcements, aka "Trans Am Braces" aka "Dog bones" add much needed rigidity to classic Mustangs, as outlined in the Boss 302 Chassis Manual.
I can't weld for ****, but I gave it a try and documented it here. I'm using an inexpensive gasless fluxcore welder, which appears to get the job done. But we'll find out for real when I get to drive the car and whether I crash and burn or not.

Thak you for taking time to share this phase of your project on video...... This work is on my to-do list and I have been putting it off because I am not a good welder. I highly recommend a bernzomatic torch. When you heat metal up it bends like butter. If you end up having interference with the UCA, you can heat it up and bend it with a hammer. Also great for unfreezing bolts.

what thickness steel did you use for your plates?

I'm not sure, but I got them here opentrackerracing.com/shop/shock-tower-wheel-side-brace-kit-1965-1966-mustang-trans-brace/ I would reccommend paying the $40 since it saves a lot of time at the start as opposed to cutting your own from scratch
