Hello Guys Welcome Our KZfaq Channel David Mahilange

I dug ditches when I was very young. It is the worst back breaking work you can imagine. This looks like quite a bit of clay in with the soil. That makes the work even harder. I salute these people. This sort of labor is a do or die situation.

its may be a reason..But you ever think of wage distribution among them..??? I would say by using Machine, the fund would go to one Pocket..!! I next, it May be coming under a scheme of Rural employment... or under a grama Panchayat... So benificiary in both ways must be villagers...ok??

@@Devidmahilange i disagree. If it had been by machinary, one person would have benefited and would have taken 5 days to complete the work. Here rural people were employed and they have been getting wages for 20 days which is enough to make thier daily living. Also local people will maintain it because of their effort. For your info India is not poor country. Our below poverty rate has impoved a lot. It may take 10 years or so to completely eradicate poverty. I have seen in the USA how so called developed nation having so many people homeless, living on the platform. This is in the middle of well developed sofisticated city called Los Angeles.

It would have been nice to see the finished project. Did they line the walls with stone, brick, or something else? Why did they need the water? For agriculture, irrigation, drinking and cooking, to fill a pond? Did the ramp remain part of the well, or was it walled off and filled in? Great example of teamwork!

My kids (9 and 5 years old) have questions: 1. What was the final number of days start to finish? We saw the 5 day mark and wondered if that was the time frame? 2. How do they keep the sides from caving in eventually? 3. What is the field used for that they were pumping the water into? 4. The people digging - are they paid to do this work or is it a labor of love and need? 5. How do they find a spot to dig? Is it a guessing game? Do they have ways to make a more educated guess? Do they ever dig really far and never hit water? 6. What do they do with the dug area if they don’t hit water or it dries up in the future? 7. Where else can we look for information and answers to their questions? Thanks!!

I believe 20 days. No it shouldn’t cave in. Clay can be pretty solid. Especially gravelly clay. It looks like a community effort. Certain trees can indicate shallow ground water, or maybe they just picked a plain next to a river. And it looked like an agricultural field. Hope that helped.

your pumps are very important. protect them from pumping dirt as much as you can. I suggest you put them in some stone or wrap in coarse fabric to filter some dirt out before it gets into the pump. I usually dig hole into water, use pipe wrapped in fabric and put pipe in hole and put stone around pipe. Then pump. All of you did a very impressive job!

My favourite sport when I was a kid, I dug almost 34 holes all over our backyard and hide them with branches. My mother lost a tooth because of me, guess why...
