I'm wondering if at least some of the issues with the Volvo can be traced to the time you caught it on fire earlier this year (or late last year, I forget). At least the dozer is still purring along! This is why we need to push for a Right-to-Repair law nationally. Even if he knew what wire was loose and fixed it, the dealer has to reset the equipment to get it out of limp mode. This is hurting contractors and farmers alike. Oh and it affects the device you are watching this on as well.

Very fortunate you've got the dozer as a backup for sure. If it's any consolation, the job I used to have, the company bought a brand new CAT 336FL excavator. Ran great, no issues. Suddenly at 1000 hrs the DPF light and alarms came on saying it was clogged and it forced a regen. Then it shut itself off. Restarted it, ran right back to limp mode. CAT came out and said a sensor was the issue. Needless to say about 5 calls later on it got the entire system replaced and was down for 3 months while CAT argued with warranty stuff etc. Very frustrating for my boss that just spent 250k on a new machine to barely get any use out of it. Before I left there it did it again at 3k hours. Moral of the story emissions is junk.

Man, the change on this pond has been just incredible! From "couldn't even see it"... Way to go, man! Cripes, that's starting to become kind of a joke at this point, thing spends more time going into limp mode than it does working. Maybe you can find a 1970s or so excavator to re-build, give the old Link Belt another shot? At least it didn't break down every other day for a week!
@ToreDL872 жыл бұрын
Yeah businesses get subsidies for using heavily regulated emissions friendly equipment. But it breaks down a lot and doesnt really pay off for private use. For personal use its always best to use older stuff that doesnt break down as much and is easier to repair, I've seen gears and shafts on old school stuff snap in half get just put back together enough to make a template for machining a new part. New stuff is too intricate for even that.
