"Don't think, feel" - Su-metal (lead singer). If you feel good, happy, excited, sad, cry or emotional after watching or listening. That's a good song. It doesn't matter if you understand the lyrics or not. Music is a creative art, nothing is written in stone that everyone must follow the traditional way, like growling or deep screaming in most metal music. Anyway, thanks for reacting to Babymetal. Arigatou gozaimasu!

Nice react, pls try react ROAD OF RESISTANCE live in JAPAN, Legend of 1997 Headbanger Live and RONDO of NIGHTMARE with mischiefs of god intro, you will see the power of the KAMI band and SU-METAL in the vocal! Babymetal has nothing to do with anime, not because something is from Japan it means it is anime related, that being said, i recommend you to react to what is for me their best song, i mean their song Megitsune, if you liked this song i think you could love their past songs, Pa pa ya is from thier newest album but they have a 10 years history behind and 3 albums counting the new one, check their songs Megitsune, Headbanger, Road of resistance, Karate, Akatsuki, all of their songs are really good and different frome each other, keep reacting this amazing band, greetings.

I am not into anime either but I love Babymetal. Its very unique and really good. There really is no song that represents Babymetal. The only song that kind of sounds like Pa Pa Ya would be Da Da Dance. Every other song is very different from each other. Don't worry about the lyrics in this song. It's just a party song. They do have songs with deeper meaning. Rondo of Nightmare, Road of Resistance, Megitsune, Ijime Dame Zettai, etc.

Nice Reaction !, but "Be Warned !" Once You let them Grow on You , You'll Never Gonna Be Able to Get Rid of Them ! ;-) ''Babymetal''' ('One word !) refers to "the birth of a new kind of metal" they call ''Kawaii Metal'' ("Cute Metal" ;-) "Kawaii Metal" is Mix of J-Pop & "Every" kind of Metal !! (The name in fact has nothing to do with the age of the girls, although they are older in this clip , people often think that's the case, if they are checking out the earlier stuff) If you're willing to do More Babymetal ? just be prepared & Buckle up ! because your in it for A Hell of a Ride ;-)

HA! Great reactions guys. Babymetal created a new genre of metal called Kawaii (cute) Metal. Only two of the girls in this video are original members, as the the third original member, Yuimetal, left the band in 2018 for undisclosed health reasons. The lead Singer is Su-metal, and the other original member here is Moametal, the one with the long twin ponytails. They have had several new members who would switch out in the third spot, called the Avengers. Occasionally all three of the Avengers would appear on stage for certain songs. This song was from their latest album, Metal Galaxy (2019), and has a different feel to it compared to their two previous albums, Babymetal and Metal Resistance. As far as a spectacle though, you need to check out some of their older live performances, as they feature some amazing stage setups. Babymetal also features songs that explore a wide range of metal genres, like speed metal, black metal, metalcore, etc...so most songs sound and feel quite different to each other.

Great reaction! I'm a 48 year old grumpy guy and a massive BABYMETAL fan (I don't watch anime or understand Japanese either), but to be honest, I didn't like this song when it came out because to me it felt too commercial and radio friendly. Now I like it more, but I too wouldn't play it in my car. I really prefer their heavier songs and their power ballads. BTW, Here is a little bit of info...In 2019, BABYMETAL became the first Asian artists to hit #1 on BILLBOARD's Top Rock Albums chart with their latest album, "Metal Galaxy". BABYMETAL have performed with, toured, or opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), to name a few of many. BABYMETAL has been around for TEN years and have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you guys give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, their live performances are way better than their studio recordings. The live versions have more energy, sometimes a little faster, and the vocals won't have any digital effects. Greetings, from California. SUBSCRIBED

Matsuri-da! Matsuri-da! Spicy summer song! Crazy summer dance! Make some noise! Dance! It's party time! PAPAYA! So! People have already unloaded massive amounts of Babymetal info inthe comments...I'll try to keep this to a minimum! This song is, as some people have said, the ultimate summer party song! Matsuri-da = It's a Festival! Just like the Thai Papaya Salad Som Tam, you have to mix the sweet and the spicy parts of life to have a good one! So, basically the message of the song is to take the good with the bad and live it up like its a summer festival! As for a "defining" Babymetal song....there's really no one song that does that! As others have said, they cover all types of genres and styles of music. You have a handful that fans might consider quintessential Babymetal (Megitsune, Karate, Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!, Ijime Dame Zettai, Road of Resistance, Iine (capital i not an l), Doki Doki Morning, and a few more), but even those are all very different sounding songs! And that changes more and more per album. The most drastic change (IMO) being between the first 2 albums and the 3rd (this is, of course, not including the live albums as its still the same songs...). In the first 2 albums, they still mix up sounds a lot, but its still all done with their own cultural influence. The 3rd album decided to break down even more walls than they'd already broken, and branched into world cultural musical styles! PAPAYA being Thai, they've also done Indian/bollywood, latino(latinx?) or salsa metal, the lead singer of Sabaton joined them for some celtic(?)/folk metal, and many others(as this album went heavy with artist features!!! Lol) joined them for other songs! You really and truly will never know.what to expect with each song, other than top notch talent, production, and performance! If you plan to continue with Babymetal, you're bound to notice their signature hand sign. While very similar to the traditional "devil horns" used for rock in general, it is actually a variation where the pads of the middle and ring finger are pressed against the pad of the thumb. This creates the hand gesture of a fox(kitsune) in Japanese culture shadow play. When the producer showed the girls the horns, they mistook it for the fox sign. Some people say that this is where their lore of being chosen by the Fox God to spread metal back into the world started. Either way, since the Fox God is a big part of their lore, they ran with it lol! Taking into account that you guys are metalheads yourselves, I'm gonna recommend my recent fav Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro live at Budokan Black Night! This is one of their darker toned songs and a Su-metal solo. It's about a girl running from an unknown IT in a recurring nightmare. She tries to hide but IT always finds her. Realizing that she cannot escape, she pleads for IT to show itself to her. Then finally she falls to the darkness. Sooooo dark! So metal!!! Love! The sample title of this track was Kill the Alice, so that might give you an idea as to what its referencing and how dark it might get! Maybe the unknown IT is the Jabberwocky?!? Lol! Kitsune up! \m/

BABYMETAL is not a spectacle it is an art form, of amazing talent. The best of the best. I suggests Road of Resistance Live in Japan, and older song but still one of their best. Also here is some background on BABYMETAL. BABYMETAL 101 Founded 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3 member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (15 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH) Headbangya Babymetal Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (No More Bullying Forever) Karate No Rain No Rainbow The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era Distortion Starlight The Current Era (Metal Galaxy) The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3 member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya! Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as it’s president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it.

I hope you don't take offence in me saying that, but I got the impression that Richard (hope I got the names right) might have a common problem with BABYMETAL: He does actually like it, but there's this little inner metalhead voice that tells him he must not like it. But that can be overcome. :-) There are some things about them that may need some getting used to, like the cute girls with the cute voices and the choreography. That's even more true for their older stuff, where they were reeeeally young. But there are also a lot of great things that can hardly be denied right from the beginning, like the live energy, the stage presentation and presence, the instrumental skills. Once you get used to the formerly mentioned aspects, you'll notice that those are top notch as well; the vocals, the dancing, the poppy, catchy tunes... And then it becomes apparent that BABYMETAL are more than just music, they are a complete package of fun. It's allowed to scream, it's allowed to smile, it's allowed to headbang, it's allowed to dance... whatever you feel like, do it. That's the message behind all of it. It's hard to name a song that's typical for BABYMETAL. Their catalogue goes from very poppy to very heavy, some songs lean more to one side, some more to the other, some are right in the middle, and somehow some manage to be at both ends at the same time. They also incorporate influences from othere genres and cultures as well. This time it was Thai Rap, but you'll also find EDM, Hip Hop, Reggae, Ska, Waltz, Dubstep, Indian tunes... And somehow it always works. If I had to name a typical song, I'd say it's "Megitsune": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbFjgbCLpruvd6s.html But before making a final judgment about BABYMETAL, you absolutely have to watch a live performance (you have probably noticed that this one had studio audio). "Road of Resistance" will give you a good taste of what those are like. You'd have to pause the video a few times, though, otherwise it would probably get blocked. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLp1jLh3zLLalY0.html

Precisely. I think many ppl get turned off Babymetal, bc they hear "gimme chocolate" as the first and only song. Yui and Moas cute vocals arent for everyone. But yes, allow yourselves to like this music. If there was any objections to anything during the song, you hid it very well. If you smile and groove with a track while listening and only afterwards begin to try to find things about it that may or may not be good, you are over thinking it. Good reaction though 🤘🏻🦊😎

> "How does a group like this get soo big?" Simple recipe: They all are talented AF and really, really good in the things they do. And a big part of their success actually lies in their live shows. They always give at least 120% regardless they play at a crowd of 500 or 50,000. This year, by the way, they have their 10th anniversary. Some facts about them: BABYMETAL is around since 2010 when the three girls were 11 and 12 years old. They originally were part of the school-themed idol-project Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy) but parted from SG in 2013 to become an independent act. Back then the band mainly consisted of three girls: Suzuka Nakamoto (aka. SU-METAL, lead vocals) Yui Mizuno (aka. YUIMETAL, backing vocals and dance) and Moa Kikuchi (aka. MOAMETAL, backing vocals and dance) complemented by a bunch of stellar musicians called Kami-Band (Band of Gods) at their live performances. They already have seven albums out: "BABYMETAL", rel. 2014 (studio album) "Live at Budokan - Red Night Apocalypse", rel. 2014 (live album) "Metal Resistance", rel. 2016 (studio album) "Live at Wembley", rel. 2016 (live album) "Metal Galaxy", rel. 2019 (studio album) "Legend Metal Galaxy - Day 1", rel. 2020 (live album) "Legend Metal Galaxy - Day 2", rel. 2020 (live album) BABYMETAL also has several live recorded shows out on DVD/Blu-Ray which is a good thing because, believe it or not, they are one of the best live bands out there (which earned them many best-live-act-awards). They also never get boring because of their diversity in music styles. Regardless they always manage to stay recognizable. Unfortunately, Mikio Fujioka (their lead guitarist) died from an accident in January 2018 and Yui Mizuno left BABYMETAL in fall 2018 because of health reasons. But despite all that, the band is going strong and achieved, as first Asian act ever, a number one notation at the billboard rock charts with their recently released album "Metal Galaxy". My recommendations for the start are: *"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 in the UK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNVdksaTy8rWiXk.html *"Karate"* live at Download Festival 2016 in the UK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p752bJeDrL-pnas.html *"Rondo of Nightmare"* live at Nippon Budokan in 2014 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/br1yd8x9srS-k3k.html *"Syncopation"* live video compilation kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q8BhZK2Gv7OchmQ.html *"Road of Resistance"* live at Saitama Super Arena in 2015 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLp1jLh3zLLalY0.html *"Shanti Shanti Shanti"* live at Glastonbury Festival 2019 in the UK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rZtxn6iS28rNoHU.html *"Akatsuki"* (Unfinished Version) live at Makuhari Messe in 2013 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q9ePhauFlp_Sfac.html

Hey, great post. 1) Only thing is that I would recommend 'Atatsuki Unfinished Ver' after one is already a bit invested - just that it makes the song 100X better when you can relate to the their journey from nobody to the top of the world. 2) Also, Karate Official music video is way too good to be missed (I know that live BM is the real BM, but Karate & Megitsune are two songs where the MV is a better starting point).

Nice reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL universe! This is a summer festival song about a spicy Thai salad... yes... but it's soooo happy and never fails on keep my spirit up and put me in a good mood. Since every song is pretty different from the others this is not representative of a "general" BABYMETAL style. This is a production, just a show... Yes, indeed. They put on a great show: crazy stages, pyro, lights, visual effects, etc. But also they are backed by a live metal band formed by top notch musicians and SU-METAL (the lead singer) is really amazing. They also play in smaller venues with less production and they are still outstanding. This is why they became huge. As a metalhead, I can understand the shock about the choreo and things like that. But you get used to it, just open your mind. Now my suggestions: Megitsune (official music video): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbFjgbCLpruvd6s.html Headbanger (Live @ Legend 1997): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6ujgsR-x7Sqp6s.html Have fun!

Good reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL galaxy. I won't give you their entire history (I hear sighs of relief all round) I'll just stick to a couple of things you said. I'm guessing the guy who had heard a little bit of BABYMETAL in the past had heard 'Gimme Chocolate' based on "wait until you hear them sing" and " from the little I've heard it all has this feel". Some of it certainly has this feel (just party, fun pop-metal fusion), but it really isn't representative of everything they do - 'Megitsune' may be the one song that could be said to be most representative of what they do, but don't expect any other song to sound like 'Megitsune' as they are all so different from each other. (Does that even make sense?) You wondered how they got so big and so popular ... well it wasn't because of any anime connection (it seems anything Japanese "sounds like an anime opening" judging by the number of reactors who repeat that). My own theory (and the reason I'm deep in the BABYMETAL Fox hole) is that they are something new and completely different. I've been listening to music for far more years than I would have thought I would live and I've seen many of the recognised great live bands in their prime. In recent years there was very little that was new that I hadn't heard before - and done better. So I was bored, I listened to my old favourites, had the same half a dozen CDs in my car for 10 years, but nobody was coming out with anything that excited me any more. On top of that the metal I liked seemed to be disappearing and hardly any bands seemed to think they were allowed to sing melodies, it was just constant growls, screams and what may as well have been puking into the microphone throughout every song on every album and they were all so angry or angst ridden, it was just depressing. I stumbled across BABYMETAL by pure chance and it was like a breath of fresh air - great musicianship from every member of the band, great vocals (Su's voice just hit me - I have always appreciated a good female vocalist but there was just something about her vocals that hit exactly the right spot for me), catchy melodies that stuck themselves in my head and something I never knew I needed - perfectly timed choreographed dancing to the metal. I have always considered dance to be a pointless waste of effort, dancers just fill empty spaces on a stage, prance about for no good reason or wiggle their arses to give me something to watch and to take my mind off bland music ....but this was completely different, they weren't using the same moves dancers always seem to use, they were interpreting the songs or expressing the meaning of the lyrics (which I couldn't understand - I speak no Japanese) and at the same time involving the audience, getting everybody in the audience to jump or make some other move with them. They are not following any format or set rules on what makes a band, they don't fit in with or limit themselves to any single genre and right from the start they have done something nobody else has done. On top of that they have the highest quality people doing what they are among the very best at throughout the whole team that make BABYMETAL what they are - so they ask the best song writers and composers write their songs, the best light and sound engineers for the live shows, the best musicians Japan has to offer playing in the Kami band, Japan's top choreographer helping and guiding the girls and fronting it all are the girls themselves all very talented and motivated with Su at the very pinnacle - she is a hugely talented vocalist with an incredible presence when she is on stage. Put all that together and you have a band that appeals to different people from all angles - they have girls younger than them who look up to them as role models, fans of J-Pop who had never listened to metal or found it intimidating or too angry, old metalheads who had got bored with the same old thing being repeated again and again and finally found something new and different, parents with young families who had been too busy for music ... the list is endless, you will find people of all ages, genders, nationalities, backgrounds, musical tastes etc rubbing shoulders at a BABYMETAL concert and every one of them is having the time of their lives. So yes you were right, they put on a show, but everything about the show is of the very best quality - the sound, the lights, the atmosphere, the songs and tunes, musicianship, the singing, the dancing, the theatrics ... BABYMETAL are the most entertaining thing I have seen live - whether that is as a band or a musical performance act is irrelevant. I hope you do more (just avoid 'Gimme Chocolate' for a few more songs, or if you do want to see that one pick a real live performance with the Kami Band, not the official video, and you won't go wrong).

I always like the super sceptic faces before the song turn them into smiles while headbanging a few seconds in. Thumbs up for that and also for being open minded. This is one of their more "fun songs". It's also a studio track dubbed over the live footage of their Yokohama concert in 2019. Little tip: stay away from their music videos, except maybe Megitsune and Karate. Live is always the way to go with Babymetal and Japanese bands in general. The mix is so much better than the studio recorded stuff and in Babymetal's case there's an actual amazing band playing in their live performances (called Kami Band). Another problem is always Road of Resistance, because it's getting blocked A LOT. You could throw a coin if you'd be able to upload it or not and throw another one if it stays up. Few recs from me as a metal fan (in no particular order): Headbanger live from their "Legend 1997" concert in 2013: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6ujgsR-x7Sqp6s.html . The concert title "Legend 1997" refers to lead vocalist Su-metal's birth year, this was her 16th birthday concert. Ijime, Dame, Zettai (free translation, No More Bullying, Forever) from Sonisphere Festival UK 2014, their first non-Japan performance in front of a big crowd: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNVdksaTy8rWiXk.html Akatsuki live from Budokan 2014, this is a solo song from Su-metal and in my eyes still their overall best song: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZhjapV0mraufIE.html Rondo of Nightmare from Budokan 2014 with instrumental intro Mischief of Gods, also a solo song from Su and you can see the crazy band: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/br1yd8x9srS-k3k.html Babymetal were originally three girls when they formed in 2010, lead vocalist Suzuka Nakamoto aka Su-metal born Dec 1997, backup vocalists and dancers Moa Kikuchi aka MOAMETAL born Jul 1999 and Yui Mizuno aka YUIMETAL born Jun 1999, but Yui had to leave in 2018 because of health reasons. Now Su and Moa are supported by a rotating trio of dancers. The one in this video here was Kano Fujihira, who was 14 when this video was recorded.

I'll bet there is at least 1 Babymetal song you would listen to in the car. How can I make that assertion? Simple, if you like Heavy Metal Music you can pick any one of the sub-genre that abound within, and you will find Babymetal there. Death, Black, Old School Thrash, Djent, Metal Core, Viking/Finnish Folk, Melodic and even good old fashion Stadium Rock!! Now of corse, the Babymetal style of "Kawaii Metal" is fully present in each by combining those various sub-genre with things like EDM, Dubbstep, Reggae, Rap or some Big Band Jazz Swing. You never know what you will get with Babymetal but I bet one of them is just for You!!! Have fun exploring the Fox Hole! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

One of the things that is so surprising about Babymetal is their range. The songs are extremely diverse. So you can't really try to form an opinion after listening to just one song. Taken as a whole, you could make the argument that their output is rather progressive metalcore. But you won't get that from this particular song, which is a bit of an outlier. - If you want to see more of the Kami band (a solo from each member, actually), you should watch the "Mischief of Metal Gods", which is a live intro to "Rondo of Nightmare". - If you want to hear how technically and creatively excellent their music can be, listen to the progressive "Tales of the Destinies". The live version, if you can find it. - If you want to listen to Su sing, people seem to prefer "Akatsuki", and although it's not a personal favorite, the dual guitar solo is nice. - If you want to know what Moa and Yui can do on their own, "Sis. Anger" is a really good and surprisingly heavy song. - If you want their most important live performance, then find the 2014 Sonisphere version of "Ijime, Dame, Zettai". But you really should read a bit of the story behind that gig first! - If you want a song that perhaps typify the Babymetal sound more than any other, then give "Megitsune" a try. But I don't think it's a good song to start with. It takes some getting used to.

Thanks for reacting, I'm always interested to see what other musicians think of something like Babymetal. Or explore some other Japanese bands (their are definitely some interesting ones: Ningen Isu, Maximum the Hormone, etc.). But Babymetal is definitely the best known outside of Japan. Selling more albums outside of Japan than other Japanese bands/groups overall, including pop. Japan is actually the second largest music industry in the world. But their share import and export of music is probably lower than most countries. But to make it more clear: Babymetal is actually sold the most copies of an album of any Asian band (so not just Japan) ever on the US Rock charts. The album (was their third) actually reached 13 on the overall charts. Babymetal is not your regular Babymetal band that for sure. :-) They are unique in style and what they do and how they do it. And yes, I would say Babymetal's focus is on the live performance. But boy do they bring a lot of energy to their performances ! Avatar toured as an opener for Babymetal in the US. Vocalist Johannes Eckerström said in some way they are like Cirque Du Soleil (which I hope isn't the case because Cirque Du Soleil went bankrupt because of covid-19). Avatar is definitely can put on a show as well. Babymetal is metal with pop vocals is a fair way to look at it. Babymetal actually incorporates Kawaii culture from Japan, which is cute (adorable) culture. Which is why they are often called Kawaii metal. Usually they would say that means metal with Japanese Pop (J-Pop). But a lot would say they are just Babymetal, their own thing, their own genre if you will. I think that's probably a better way to look at it. The diversity in their songs is very broad. I already saw some good recommendations. It's not always easy to know what songs will make someone a fan, so I think just try a bunch. But pretty certain you'll enjoy them more than you'd expected.

The key to liking BabyMetal lies in the ability to get over yourself and just allow yourself to enjoy it. I am a sixty-seven-year-old hard rock and heavy metal fan who, like so many others, felt very uncomfortable about liking BabyMetal at first. This was back in 2014, so the girls of BabyMetal were considerably younger back then. Was I turning into a dirty old man, or what? I knew it was not cool to like this music; it was not manly. Eventually, I was able to set aside my Western prejudices and preconceptions because BabyMetal is just so damn good. It was something fresh, new, and totally different than anything I had heard or seen before. BabyMetal is simply an expression of pure joy that will brighten your day. All you have to do is open your mind, open your heart, and let BabyMetal make you happy. Some might say that metal music is not supposed to make you happy, but in this messed up world we live in these days, we need all the cheering up we can get, wherever we find it. BabyMetal had repeatedly surprised me over the years with the variety in their music and the conflicting themes in their songs.

Poppy metal is a good description. It's J-pop (Japanese pop) mixed with heavy metal. But here's the thing. Every single song is different! They literally do every genre of metal there is. They go from Ska metal to Power metal, Death metal to Thrash metal. Indian, Latin, Pirate, Folk, Trap, Rap, DDM, Black, Melodic, Ballad, Djent... you name it, they do it. And the musicians? They are the best top musicians from Japan. Takayoshi Ohmura used to play with ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman. Hideki Aoyama is drumming royalty in Japan. LEDA CYGNUS is another great guitarist, and the late Mikio Fujioka was a professor of music at Tokyo Music University. BOH is a 6 string bass God! They were the brainchild of producer Kei Kobayashi. He is a producer for Japanese talent agency Amuse and was working with Sakura Gakuin, a pop idol group. There he discovered, Suzuka Nakamoto and came up with the idea for Babymetal. Amuse gave him the ok to pursue his project and after they became viral on KZfaq, well... the rest is history. They are not a "traditional" metal band, but more of a metal production. You might not put to this particular song on your playlist, but I guarantee they have a song you will. They have 3 albums of incredibly fun music. And that's the whole point of Babymetal. It's tongue in cheek on purpose. Keep listening, you'll get it.

But I believe their music is good, and one of the most innovative things that have ever happened in metal scene, then why not? My personal take on why I like Babymetal: it's different. That's really it to me, honestly. It blows expectations out of the water. The music is amazing, the lyrics are catchy and for some reason it makes you want to dance along to metal, which some people say is impossible. They say it takes three songs to fall completely into the fox hole (no, not the rabbit hole, the fox hole). On the first you're like 'wtf is this?' the second is 'I think I kinda like this?' on the third you're singing along to a chorus you probably can't even understand, but it sounds catchy and it makes you smile. At that point, welp... you've become The One.

I wasn't into metal, because I'm not a fan of the growls. But I absolutely love how Babymetal sings "normal", but has the metal instrumentals! Maybe you should listen to a few more, because the more you get used to the style, the more you will like it. Babymetal songs are very different from each other. @@TrueShotOfficial god damn you guys are on it with your replies! If you wanted more BM to watch: Gimme Chocolate is probably their most famous song. Megitsune is most BabyMetal fans' favourite song. Road of Resistance is probably their best production (honestly one of the best live performances I've ever seen put together). Nice one guys!

"What kind of metal is BABYMETAL?" - "They're just BABYMETAL." Exactly, that's the best description of their style. :-) And they cover a lot of ground with their songs so I wouldn't say "Pa Pa Ya!!" is a good represantation of the stuff they "usually" do. You can go from ultra heavy shredding (BM Death, Sis.Anger) to Viking metal (Meta Taro), Power Metal (Road of Resistance, Ijime Dame Zattai) to all kind of other types of metal, all mixed with a lot of other genres (Ska, even Reggae in one song (4 no uta)). So if someone would ask me to show him a "typical" BM song I couldn't do that, I'd have to show him at least 3 songs. And I'd definitely chose live versions of them because, as you're said, they're a spectacle.

Good reaction mates Every Babymetal song is different from the others and is mix of various styles. Most of their songs is better to watch in live versions, but still have songs with better MV - like "IINE" or "Megitsune". My suggestion for you as metalcore band is "Karate" - official MV. And for Derek - "Tamashii No Rufuran" - this is opening song for Neon Genesis Evangelion cover

It's called Kawaii Metal. Kawaii is Japanese for cute. They were a brand new fusion of jpop and metal. This is 10 years later and therfore catalogue is amazing. They're just awesome.

Nice reaction & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。You are going to receive tons of information provided by numerous fans from many countries. I just say one thing. BABYMETAL's activities are worldwide. Since June last year until March this year, they performed 20 times in US, 19 times in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan (total : 49 their own concerts including one at the Forum, LA + 6 appearance in festivals). Many more were planned but cancelled due to the pandemic. Please continue to explore BABYMETAL.

Believe me, this ISN'T just a show!! Papaya is a more recent number and not representative of what a serious outfit they are - absolutely superb musicians, second to none - Su Metal's vocals are near perfect, Moa Metal can sing as well - plus the fact that you get dancing too! I'm 53 and have seen everyone from AC/DC to ZZ Top and Babymetal were right up there with the best of them. I was skeptical when I first heard them - but they grow so fast on you - and you are rendered helpless and a life long fan!

What you said about pop- y metal, that's a good assessment. Babymetal is legendary for the diversity they have in the types of sub-genres of metal (and other types of music) that they have in their musical catalog, but the sub-genre of metal that they invented is called kawaii metal, or "cute metal" in English. What you said about their performance being a spectacle and a show is right on too. They combine elements of Japanese idol aesthetics, Japanese pop, dance, and theater to create one of the most fun and bad-ass live performances you will ever see. And to answer why this group is big is simply because they are innovative and just plain awesome musically and performance-wise. You can plainly see from their performance that it is fun as hell to attend their shows. Some people are initially put off by the vocals, but many people eventually warm to them and start really digging it. Personally, I think the vocals are the perfect subversive counterpoint to the super hard and gritty music that they play. And, ultimately, what could be more "metal" than messing with established "rules" and subverting expectations? Anyway, looking forward to more Babymetal reactions. Enjoy your sure to be surprising trip down the fox hole.
