I believe it’s the method. I have very thick hair too. I have to use clarifying shampoo, followed by deep conditioner and after I rinse that out I only use the tiniest bit of leave in and I mean like a dime sized amount for my whole head. The blow dry part is important. I only use three products which is one pump of Nairobi hair foam(per 4 sections), Kenra blow dry spray and then once hair is almost dry I use the tiniest bit of argan oil and sometimes I don’t use the oil at all until after I flat iron. After I blowdry I make sure my hair is completely dry. To flatiron I take thin sections and always use the chase method with my fine tooth comb or my denman brush and I do one pass. After all the hair is flat ironed I may go back and take large thick sections and curl the ends very quickly. Then I’ll either wrap my hair right away or I’ll take large sections and roll it with small flexi rods. Give it another go. If I use any grease or hair pomades during the process…it’s a major fail.
