How good it is to see you out cruising again. You’re doing well Debs but do take it easy. I shall never forget taking a 40’ hire boat from Middlewich with my dear wife Ann, my cousin and my best friend. We went south on the Staffs and Worcester and north on The Shropshire Union in a very ambitious week.Ann and I were experienced on the Canals and this would have been the early seventies. We completed the Heartbreak Hill locks in an incredibly quick time which I won’t mention as it’s probably not possible today and I wouldn’t want anyone to try. All told it was a very memorable autumn week. Happy memories.

Is it too soon? I don't think so. The crew may be easily tired out, but she has the cap'n there to help out as needed, and she could always get some practice driving. I think it will be good to get back to familiar routines and doing what she enjoys, finding new places, seeing new things, and just living her pace. I believe that the term 'Heartbreak Hill' was due to the amount of locks in such a short distance. Nice to have you both back to full time cruising. The following was also taken from Wikipedia. Heartbreak Hill -a set of locks more formally known as the Cheshire Locks on the Trent and Mersey Canal.

Another great Vlog from the both of you. I like the end of your Vlog were you cross the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, great drone shots. In around 11 weeks, my wife and myself along with my cousin and her husband will be crossing the Pontcysyllte aqueduct. I have been a drome pilot for many years and I fly the Yuneec Typhoon H which is a little too big to hand catch on the stern of a narrowboat. I have bought myself a DJI Air 2S so I can get some nice shots of the aqueduct and our cruse. We pick up the boat at Trevor basin for a weeks cruse along the Llangollen canal. We cant wait. We were supposed to go in April, but because of the lockdown, we had to postpone it. God Bless you both. I love your Vlogs. Dave.

To the best of my knowledge, it's called Heartbreak Hill due to the fact there are 36 lock in such a short distance, I believe it's six miles. Having navigated them all in heatwave, I can testify it's aptly titled. Nice to see the Barnet growing well Deb. Bet it's nice to be on the move again. Take care both of you.x

Great to see you both out and enjoying the cut again. Made me cringe when you moored at the Cheshire cheese thats were I broke me my leg getting of the boat 2 years ago. So glad to see Debbie looking so well but please don't over do it.😀😀

So good to see you cruising again and Debs looking so well. The method you describe for going up through locks is the same I employed when we're on the water. I keep the engine running at tick over and it helps the bank crew as the boat gives the gate a gentle nudge when i's ready to open.

Great video Deb & Mark, you two are such a team, like twins. Good to see your health getting better Deb. I was thinking while watching isn’t medical science treatment a wonderful thing. Chemicals kill your hair growth but also kills the cancer, and once off it all, it starts to grow again. Always love watching you both. 💜💜🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

Great to see you guys cruising again! After our first few days of narrowboating, we always tried to keep the boat back off the top gates when climbing, some nice person told us that is was far easier and used much less fuel if you let the bow ride up the top gate, they were right! I just gently bump the top gate, then gentle forward throttle to stop the surge pushing the boat back then pulling it back onto the gate, works a treat with a 70 footer, into neutral halfway up then a bit of reverse to stop the bow catching on anything at the top of the gate. Keep cranking!

Brilliant, my ex is a CVICU Nurse and they found that people that get back to life sooner, end up better; faster. They want you to maybe go slow, not stop. So let your body dictate your pace.

Great video of the locks! And the canals. And the music. Gosh those people behind you on the hire boat ... how odd that they would complain about you, or belittle your boating capabilities.
