Welcome to this North Wales, Welsh Highland Railway Vlog.
In this Welsh Highland Railway vlog, or More Things To Do In North Wales, we take the amazing Welsh Highland Railway steam train from Caernarfon to Beddgelert, with a short stop in Beddgelert to have a look around the beautiful Snowdonia town.
The Welsh Highland Railway runs between Caernarfon and Porthmadog, but we took it between Caernarfon and Beddgelert this day.
Wikipedia says this about the Welsh Highland Railway -
The Welsh Highland Railway (WHR; Welsh: Rheilffordd Eryri) is a 25-mile (40.2 km) long, restored 1 ft 11+1⁄2 in (597 mm) narrow gauge heritage railway in the Welsh county of Gwynedd, operating from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, and passing through a number of popular tourist destinations including Beddgelert and the Aberglaslyn Pass. At Porthmadog it connects with the Ffestiniog Railway and to the short Welsh Highland Heritage Railway.[a] In Porthmadog it uses the United Kingdom's only mixed gauge flat rail crossing.
The restoration, which had the civil engineering mainly built by contractors and the track mainly built by volunteers, received a number of awards. Originally running from Dinas, near Caernarfon, to Porthmadog Harbour,[5] the current line includes an additional section from Dinas to Caernarfon. The original line also had a branch to Bryngwyn and the slate quarries around Moel Tryfan, which has not been restored. (This branch forms a footpath "rail trail", the lower section of which has been resurfaced and supplied with heritage notice-boards.)
There is also the 3⁄4-mile (1.2 km) long Welsh Highland Heritage Railway which runs from Porthmadog along the track bed of the former Cambrian Railways exchange siding and connects to the WHR main line at Pen-y-Mount junction.

Great way to start our day with a big screen outing from Rach and Wills. Thats a great way to spend 4.5 hours! I would have thought Beddgelert would have been a tourist trap with no decent eateries but the food you had looked bloomin marvellous. Having heard the story of the dog a thousand times have to say that Wills recounting was the absolute best. Trust the baby to be behind the sofa, doh! All filmed in the dry, are we sure that is Wales? Don’t stick your head out! Great tip about the open carriages, id sit on the roof if it meant it was a journey free of whining kids! Great vlog and being partial members of CADW we hope to visit some Welsh Heritage sites soon, for half an hour! 🍻

To be honest - Wales is a lot quieter this year! I think everyone has gone back to Spain this year, the staycation novelty has well and truly worn off!! It was a brilliant way to spend the day and we loved it! Yep Wills retelling of the legend of Gelert is well …. Legend! And his jokes are worse!! Slendifourous train ride, Rachel and Wills. Hope I spelled that right! Beautiful countryside! Just kept getting more of that Wales sunshine as the day went on! Lunch looked delicious. Got a lot done in an hour. We rated it highly also! Beautiful castle too. All without any 🌧🌧! Hard to believe you were in Wales. But, we did see the funning spelling on some of the signs! Thanks for bringing us along. Hope you had a great time in Greece!

I would also ride this train everyday if I could! The sceneries are gorgeous enjoying the views from the open air coaches. Nice relaxing stop for a food and an easy walk. Sad story about the place though/ Liked 👍👍

We’ve had many baking hot days there, just never with a camera!! As soon as we mention camera the heavens open! This was as dry as the camera has seen it! It was such a lovely trip though. Cheers for watching 🍻

We often go down for a walk at Porthmadog just to see the steam trains Stunning place with amazing views and we love Caernarfon and Beddgelert too. Aww gotta love a steam train. Not done that journey but we've done the leg from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, was lovely and we were those posh toffs up the front. Done the one to Dolgoch Falls and Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge. Took me back with The Box of Delights, compulsory Christmas TV. Brilliant video guys and ooh be careful with that muff

We were happy all day! We’d reserved a table in an indoor, but went straight for the open carriage! Get you all posh up the front! It’s such a wonderful way to travel isn’t it. We’ll have to try out the ones you’ve done. Box of Delights is the start of Christmas! One episode a week from the end of November! Can’t beat it. Cheers 🍻

We caught up on your lovely videos guys on Sunday night after a return from holidays. Felt well needed some postcard positivity to beat the post holiday blues, and this did not disappoint 😊. However we then got caught up in the crazyness of work and real life and forgot to comment🙈. So apologies. What a marvellous day out this was! We agree, the smell of the steam train is amazing, transports you back in time, with the gentle chug chug as you ride along 😍🚂. Spectacular scenery, worth sticking your head out for Wills 😂🙈. No rain? This really was the perfect day! Food looked delicious 😋. Loved the Wills version of bed gelert, and your face as he recounted it was a picture Rach!😂. Sorry guys we do so much together on the main channel I keep forgetting to drop 👍 and comments from this one! Watched you on the big screen coz you are both just always fabulous and I loved this. That steam train is incredible an absolute must if in the area and we too would of chose the open air carriages! So well edited and super P and a P 🍻 energy! Sheep and dragons 🤣 so true when you have a membership to somewhere and you feel like you are getting in free we have done the same with the English Heritage all the ones we have visited so far have all been less than half an hour 😂 love you guys ❤️ hope you had a fabulous time in Greece and are home safely x

That looks a great day out! We looked at booking a journey from Essex to York on a pullman but it conflicted with the cruise so maybe next year. Some great scenery there in Wales! 👍

Lovely train ride but who was the punk character? He looked like a complete and utter bastard. I doubt someone as pure as Cliff Richard would have anything to do with him. I can't remember the last time rode a train like that, let alone visited a castle. One thing about getting out making videos like this is you give yourself the chance to do the fun stuff you might otherwise not. Rain or no. Another great video you two. They keep getting better and better. Wish we could say the same for Wills' jokes. 😂😍 (for the record I actually look forward to them) Looking forward to your Greek Island cruise. I'm hoping you'll might show something that showcases the appeal of cruising for those of us that would rather do anything else but. 😂

@@PostcardAndAPint apart from Sydney Harbour cruises I've been on exactly one cruise. To Antarctica. Small Russian ice breaker. 50 passengers. 4 weeks of vomiting like a vomit machine 🤮🤢 So I suspect if there is anything more than a ripple in the Aegean I would driving the porcelain bus quicker than you could say hold my beer 😂😁🤮

I really enjoy your vlogs of North Wales! I have a trip planned for May, will be staying in Llandudno for my base, and hopefully be seeing as many castles as possible. As I will using trains and buses, in your opinion can this be accomplished without a car ? Keep up the great work, you are helping me plan my trip 😊.

Ah that’s lovely to here. Honest answer to your question we don’t know! We passed many buses to Caernarfon and Bangor has a train station! We only really know the London- Holyhead train, so don’t know if there are more rural trains. We hope you have a brilliant trip! Enjoy the castles. 🍻
