This is a copy of the official video of Colin Donnelly's phenomenal world record run on the Welsh3000s in 1985 to take the world record from Joss Naylor. This record, in an amazing truly unbelievable time of 4hrs 19 mins still stands today, 30 years later.

I know the record has recently been beaten, but this remains one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen

That speed over Crib Goch is incredible, this record may never be broken. This should get more attention, over 30 years old now and progress in shoes, nutrition ect and it still stands. Well done!!

It was broken in 2019 by a fellow Scotsman - Finlay Wild - 4:10:48! Ridiculously quick.

Quite amazing, apart from the supreme fitness and dedication to keep running over often very difficult terrain, especially Crib Goch and the Glyders. The record set in June 1985, still stands, and knocking 20minutes of the great Joss Naylors time of 4-29 just shows how magnificent Colins record is. Even nearly thirty years on, there are only a hand full of highly talented fell runners able to seriously challenge the record. 4-19 for 27 of the hardest miles anywhere outside Scotland.

+Peter Lewis Outside Scotland? Surely that's overstating things? In Scotland, there aren't even altitude issues to worry about, since all the hills are too small.

+Polki Sa Zawsze Kieszonkowsze If your familiar with the terrain on Northern Snowdonia, much of it is on grass, and a lot more is difficult rock. This record was set in June 1985, and Colin smashed Joss Naylors record by over twenty minutes. The record will soon be over thirty years old, and nobody has been able to challenge the time of 4hrs 19. One amazing record, that some day will be beaten, but thirty years is a long time in fell running.

The word "Awesome" could have been invented for this. I've done everyone of those mountains (walking, scrambling and crawling) and that was just amazing. The record was beaten this year(2019) so it lasted 30 years plus.

Does this route have a name? I'd really appreciate knowing the name. The speed and focus required for terrain this technically demanding is breathtaking. The fitness required is mind blowing.

There is actually a longer route which takes in other tops in the area which makes it a round.. look it up and remember that many of the top fell runners are women

So so quick. have a look at this bonkers fell face called Tryfan Downhill Dash. It’s a summit to road race and those guys do it in 4-6mins. How, I don’t know!

Wow, can't all the different groups that wander the mountains all just get along? As long as your not inconveniencing anyone else or damaging the terrain does it really matter if you're walking, running or climbing? It's not like he was running with his eyes closed now is it, not to mention he probably ran or walked the sections of the route a hundred times before he tried this.
