hey! great video as always. for Madagascar, « PTDR » is actually a french abreviation for « PeTé De Rire » which could translate to « Exploded from laughter ». we also say « MDR » which stands for « Mort De Rire » = Died from laughter. cheers!

26:04 The Dutch speed limit actually got reduced (quite recently) from 130 to 100km/h maximum on all motorways

I'm a little late to the party but- American from Washington state here checking in. Geoduck is basically just a big freakish looking saltwater clam thats usually thinly sliced and sautéed in butter with some ginger and garlic, or even soy sauce (you can actually prepare it in a lot of different ways) It's definitely not that popular here but seeing as to how we're a fishing/seafood state you can find it in most fancy seafood restaurants 😂

I'd like to point out for the weirdest state foods that as a landlocked state very far from any real potential source of shellfish, Rocky Mountain Oysters is our cheekily disarming name for fried bull testicles😅. I still haven't tried them after years of living here but yeah, its a thing apparently

6:35 I think this is referring to Merv in Turkmenistan, which was the Abbasid capital for some time and remained one of the largest cities in the eastern Islamic world until the 13th century. I don’t think it was ever the largest city in the world though.

6:32, Merv was one of the largest cosmopolitan areas in the 12th Century CE which is now known as Mary and is located on an oasis in the Karakum Desert of Türkmenistan. Great video helping me get to bed tonight for sure!

5:32 i think it was Toledo, Toledo WAS the old capital of the Spanish Kingdom. BUT, it is Córdoba (Checked) in the tenth century. It had over a million people.

5:58 for tunisia it would be because of the capital of Carthage back in like 250 bc, which if i’m not mistaken is now tunis? i don’t remember specifically if the city was called carthage but i’m pretty sure it was.

Someone probably already said this but geoduck is actually a type of clam I think. I think it’s pronounced “gooey duck” and its “foot” is very long and meaty

Some correction about Belarus: it’s not white russian, actually, in some languages exists semantic mistakes on name of this country like in German as I remember. Rus and russia are not equal concepts. In fact, russia taken its name far after the existence of Kievan Rus’ which is had no relation with the moscovian duchy and was actually one of their enemies. So the name of the country of Belarus is not about russia, but about the Ruses if I spell correctly that in English. This country have the way more related history on Kievan Rus’ then russia, which actually start its culture occupation of the country only in 19th century. And the last fun fact: russia or россия is not even the russian word. It was taken under the influence of the greek culture on the russian aristocracy traditions of that time, but that’s about linguistics where I have not degree actually hence I can be mistaken.

The prison system here in the U.S. is often for-profit! So there's an economic incentive to keep people in jail. And lots of other horrible reasons.

Urgh, the system is broken. My gripe is, if someone has served their time then why do they have a record? You can't be punished twice. Either give a record or put them in jail. Not both. Jails just don't work
