My jaw dropped at how she was just giving out their names and where they go to school. It takes a lot of guts to do that, even after going to court, who knows what they could do? Good for her, she is braver than most.

Ah, I also misspoke - there were FOUR of us total who testified and gave victim impact statements. I should have said, "three other people". I was a little (okay, quite a bit) nervous about this whole thing. I wish I had explained some things a bit better, but this won't be the last time I share this story. I'm ready to put it out there as many times as I can. I never want this to happen again. None of us do.

Just looked him up and he was sentenced to 17 years in prison but he deserves WAY MORE. Literally did this to four women between the ages of 19 to 32 from the years 2015 to 2020... This dude is evil and he should have never been allowed in the medical field.

This happened to my ex gf in the mental hospital. They sedated her and took advantage of her; she never reported it because she has a history of mental illness and had been 5150’d when it happened - she had zero credibility. It is devastating the way vulnerable people are so frequently violated.

I recently found out that the doctor who delivered my baby & gave my prenatal care, was just charged for sexual assault that occurred in the same hospital that I delivered in. I work in the dental field and I’m not saying all doctors are unethical it’s just the fact that everyone of them I have worked for is.

This is so scary. Dev, have you heard of all of the allegations of sexual assault during surgeries- that don’t even involve the reproductive system- because of the consent you sign that allows pelvic exams? Definitely read about it, it’s wild and scary.

I got SA's under anasthethia getting my wisdom teeth out at 18. They found male DNA inside me but conveniently they couldn't match it to any medical staff. They blamed it on me having s*x with my boyfriend at the time. I had been out of state for over a week with family so it literally wasn't possible for it to have been intimate with him but they refused to believe me. The hospital 100% covered it up to avoid a lawsuit :( I wish I could have gone back in time and fought harder for myself but I had just had all four of my wisdom teeth out and had to spend the day getting a ra*e kit done. It was horrible and I was drained. It was such a bad experience I'd never report another SA again if something ever happens to me again. I don't have any faith in the justice system.

Even if you don’t see yourself as vulnerable, we as women are vulnerable because some ppl just look at you and think “ah yes, i can take advantage of her simply because she’s a woman” and that’s a fear men will never understand

It’s always appreciated when they drop the names of the people involved. I know a lot of people can’t afford doing that for legal and safety reasons but when the person can it’s helpful to those in the area who might potentially be put in proximity to the harmful people in this story for whatever reason. Even if the doctor was arrested and put in prison there are too many people in this equation who got out unscathed.

it's stories like dea's that make me absolutely terrified of going under anesthesia. it's absolutely horrifying that doctors like this exist, and that people around them back them in their crimes. I was SA by a doctor during a pelvic exam....... When he was found out he just moved to a different state. 42 years ago and I still remember............I think it is not uncommon for survivors of SA to experience more than 1 incident

This is so horrifying - I was scared of going under anaesthetic before this due to all the stories of women being given smear tests by students without permission while unconscious, but this is so far beyond horrific. She spoke so well about her experience - my heart goes out to her.

To any woman reading this in the United states please know that going under anesthesia doctors have allowance to do any kind of examination and "teaching" procedures to new doctors. If you don't want that you always have the right to randomly deny them allowance for any kind of pelvic exam etc

I was talked out of coming forward by a councilor at the university and I regret it every day. This episode hit me in so many places . I’m an SA survivor, and so is my girlfriend. She has scleroderma, and it punched me in the chest when I heard this guest say that’s what she has, because I know exactly how difficult that disease is. It makes me so sick that anyone would ever take advantage of a chronic pain patient, I wish nothing but healing and love for this guest, and for all of the victims of this monster

What really gets me about this, aside from being the most evil disturbing thing that can happen to a woman - is knowing this psycho had women nurses/assistants whatever in on it with him. I know this doesn’t help much in the grand scheme of things, but I recommend checking your providers licenses on the department of health provider credential search. It will show you if theyve had their license revoked or suspended. It will also show if they have had any previous enforcement action. Recently A local provider was arrested for assaulting women, but his license had already been suspended years prior from similar reports. His coworker was letting him bill insurance under his name and somehow all of this went unnoticed for years. And even now that the main guy is in prison, the other guys business is still up and running. You never know, so it’s best to check. It’s so sad to think his victim list was growing despite him already being reported.

I am so lucky that I have been able to get through life without SA and because of stories like this I have become so much more equipped to help teach my children consent, what's right/wrong and how to self advocate. An actual good therapist wouldn’t overly pry over your personal details. That trust should be built over time via rapport, then sharing is easier with less pressure. So sad to hear about malpractice and its negative impacts :( best wishes.

The prison should contact you if they are possibly or for sure going to release him early and you can write a letter to the court telling them why you do not want him released. I had to go through this and it worked they didn't let him out early.

I was sexually abused, by a Sutter Health ICU doctor with a nurse present helping him..while I was fighting to stay alive bc I had gone septic and my organs were failing. I have really bad PTSD from it. And as a person who has very progressive Multiple Sclerosis this has really made it hard for me to trust doctors.

The way women have to be paranoid and careful with men in the streets, with doctors in the medical field, with their own boyfriends and husbands, is completely insane. There's really no safe place in this world for us.

This girl is amazing. I have an autistic daughter. You're brave and beautiful for sharing your story.
