Thank you for this video! Very straight forward and easy to follow. A friend gave me their switch and the lock on one of the joy cons was shot. This made the repair super simple. Where did you get that awesome repair "mat"? That looks super helpful.

Had 2 pairs of joycons start to do this with me! Ill have to do this for myself so I dont have to keep replacing my controllers!

I did this to my joycons a few years ago. One thing I remember is that the latches for the Left and Right joycons are mirrored, so you absolutely don't want to get them mixed up. I didn't notice you checking the polarity, if you will, of the metal latches before putting them back in the joycon. I'm not sure if you noticed any differences after the repair, or if you just got lucky.

@@user-pk8jz4gz7pthe slopes are mirrored. If you did the replacement and its not latching, you got them backwards. I don't really have a good way to indicate which one goes with which. You just have to pay attention to how the slope would latch onto the rail.

This will prevent weathering of the lock too, right? I saw some concerns about weathering the rack on the switch itself too, have you had any problems with that? Also where can I find the locks you bought?

I purchased them from Amazon and not had any issues been using it for nearly a year on a regular basis.

I switched to metal and it's worse it seemed the spring went deeper into the lock. Could it just be worn out springs??

I didn't have that issue on mine, might be the notch in the metal bit is deeper causing the issue.

I managed to do this but the staple is hard to get out , took me 2 mins to get it out and afraid I would break it and my joycons aren't loose and I can play in handheld mode now.

How hard wearing are these metal ones? I'm sending my left Joy-Con off for repair (as I have rolling insurance on my Switch) but wouldn't mind, if I ever cancel it, replacing the buckles with these metal ones. The product being described as "alloy" doesn't say much.

I have had them installed in my switch for over a year with no issues. I'm at 600 hours of game play on Zelda alone so your pretty safe.

HELP! My right joy con is doing fine but my left one is now stuck in my switch! I can remove it while its on but I dont have any solution for this problem :(
