This is such a great tutorial! Thank you! HSN.com carries the stencils that WeR creates for the Foil Quill pens. Alphabets, patterns, etc. Thought I would mention it in case they would be helpful for anyone. I haven’t had a chance to try out my pens yet but now I want to go play with them TODAY after seeing all the things you’ve done. Your Bible is beautiful!

Hi, Lindsay! Help you SO much for your video! The hinge trick is awesome! I do live calligraphy for department stores and I was trying sooo hard to think of ways on how to apply foil to hi-end products without messing up and the universe sent me your way. Thank you again!!! Greetings from Mexico!!

I was so pleased with how well it turned out! I’ll be honest, I went into it thinking that these pens wouldn’t give great results but they are awesome.

Hi Lindsey thanks for such a great video. I didn't realise how versatile the pens could be and thought they were really only for use in a Cameo or such. How wrong was I !!! I have a machine but this is so much more beneficial. I don't have the pens yet but will get them soon. Thanks for the inspiration on how many surfaces this can be used.

Do have an old heat wave pen tip was wrong size for some projects. I saw another video where someone stamped on the front of foil with archival ink and then traced onto project will have to try the different size tips maybe nice... find these alittle expensive based on past experience with heatwave tool. To bad they could not have made tips interchangeable like the fuse tool.

Awesome video! Thank you for sharing! By chance since you got a whole set, do you need the magnetic board for any reason if you AREN'T going to use these in an electronic device and only plan to use them by hand freestyle?

I didn’t think that I would need the magnetic board but the more I use these the more that I think it would be helpful. It makes it faster to secure the foil, gives you a heat resistant surface to work on, and is less wasteful than the tape. I have it on my wishlist 😉

Thanks a lot for sharing this video with us. I tried the copy paper technique, but the ink came out & stuck on the tip of the pen !!?? I guess this happened because I used the laser printer instead of the inkjet...

Yes, laser toner melts but inkjet soaks into the fibers of the paper.

If you want to do the Cricut or cutting machine version with bible journaling, you may be able to do it with water slide paper and put that on your bible page. I haven't done it yet, but it should work.

The box with my quill pen that came from Amazon does not say “freestyle’ b it says it hooks up to a machine. Do I have the wrong kind? Can I do freestyle with this quill pen?

The one you got is meant to go in an electronic die cutting machine, like the Silhouette. You want the ones that specifically say “freestyle”.

You could try using a "sand eraser" but it will likely have left an indention in the book cover that will be harder to remove if at all.

On my Bible I believe I used the medium tip size and it was created using the Tim Holtz Roses stencil.

Of the pens themselves, what makes them different from the ones that plug into the electronic cutting machines?

I believe it’s the shape of them...these fit better in your hand since they are meant to be held. There are multiple warnings on the packaging to not use these ones in a machine so I’m not sure if there are some other differences that I’m not aware of. The original ones are on my shopping list so hopefully I’ll be able to experiment a little more soon 😉

I’ve never tried it but from the videos I’ve seen these are similar just better designed. The tip isn’t as exposed so less chance of getting burned, the shape of the pen is better and fits in your hand easier, and these come in a variety of tips.

The calligraphy is not bad I like it the most actually. You should give it a try. Check it out again it looks the best. We are imperfect being and that’s what makes us beautiful and unique and interesting.

Lol, I kind of wish I waited for this video to come out before placing my order.... When it comes to foil, will the foil for the glimmer plate systems work for this too, since they are also heat-based, and not adhesive based? With the way you are going, I have a feeling I will need lots of foil soon😅I guess I should watch this video at normal speed one of these days... I tend I watch all videos at 1.75 speed at least. And no shame with your handwriting, it looks fine! I'll be honest, I had a teacher who almost gave me an F in handwriting. I was a transfer student, and never really had to deal with handwriting. So the whole write in a handwriting book made little to no sense to me. Wow, you guess 2 of the 3 items in my scrapbook.com order. The third item is highly influenced by your videos.... the nesting tag dies! But now I wonder if I should have added foils to my cart... Thank you for all the tips and tricks!

Good question...the glimmer foils may work. I never even thought to watch videos on a faster speed until you mentioned it! That’s now how I watch all videos unless it’s instructional. I’ve never loved my handwriting but it is what it is 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@LindseyDecor I started watching most instructional videos at 1.5 to get a quick overview, the pause or go back if I have questions or need to follow the instructions. Now, I have a hard time watching videos on my phone or other platforms, pretty much when I can't change the speed. But if you are nervously waiting for something to release, watching a video at a high Side question, do you think the WRMK foiling mat would help with the freestyle pens, and if so, would the Wendy Vecchi - Make Art - Stay-tion work if you can find the right kind of magnet? Oh dear, I see some research and planning/saving in my future. 😅

It's a thing now to color in your bibles? I'm old enough to remember when someone drawing in a bible would earn the beating of their life. I'm not against it at all, just a bit thunderstruck. How the world changes over time. That one bible has stuff falling out of it like a junk journal. I need to investigate. What joyous fun.

It’s actually not a new thing when you think about all of the Illuminated Bibles from hundreds of years ago…it just looks a little different today. I do have separate Bibles that I study from and these are mostly used for art worship and prayer journaling. Some people feel convicted about covering up the text while others don’t. Similar to how worship may look different from church to church, same goes for Bible journaling. This has been such a valuable tool for how I study my Bible over the years 💕
