Original artwork by Werna Wolf, based on histoirescochonnes.blogspot.com/2014/10/histoire-cochonne-2-56.html, a cartoon made about ten years ago by his cartoonist self, which itself was based on John Colliers's 1887 painting, "Lady Godiva".
The vocal samples used on this album come from Francis Ford Coppola's "Dracula" (1992), J.R.R. Tolkien's reading of his own poem, "Namárië", John Boorman's "Excalibur" (1981) and Jim Henson and Frank Oz's "The Dark Crystal" (1982).

Henfanwa, Henfanwa, wherefore Have you closed the lockless door? We the cave dwellers crave the light Without - oh, can't you hear us scream? We the gravediggers brave the night Within - oh, can't you see us gleam? Henfanwa, Henfanwa, wherefore Have you closed the lockless door? Mother, Matter, Space and Time, Their darkness creeps upon us all - Father, heed their artful rhyme, This madness seeps out on the Soul! Henfanwa, Henfanwa, wherefore Have you closed the lockless door? ____________________________________ Thanks a lot for sharing and for your support!

Dungeon Synth is more Metal to me than most mainstream bands. I say that on this particular project because of how solemn and foreboding it is. Well done.

Thank you for this masterpiece, I've been listening to this album over and over again. I rarely find dungeon synth tracks that sound melodic and hook me, and I'd like to hear something like this more often, so I'm looking forward to new stuff from you :) As an artist I'd like to mention that the cover artwork is great, it sets a mystic atmosphere...

@@wernawolf I KNEW THAT POSE WAS FAMILIAR!! I remember choosing it to do an exam recreation based on it (and also "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimpt) many years ago in Secondary school in the 90s, it just seemed so melancholy... memory unlocked! Have you ever done, or have available, prints of it? I'd gladly pay for one to support you.

@@plume... Thank you for your kind words! Alas, apart from the comic book it was originally published in, which will soon be available again, I don't have any print (nor do I plan any for the time being). I could exceptionally draw, ink and paint the artwork version for you (the original drawing was not melancholy at all but humorous and featured... a pig-woman!), if that's something you'd be interested in, although it might take some time!

I rarely like dungeon synth albums even though I desperately want to, because I think it's a cool concept and combines so many things I like individually. Usually, I just cringe, or it's meh, but this album really does it for me, and I couldn't tell you why. Finally happy tho 😌

Thanks a lot! I do sometimes compose on an old Casiotone 405 but did not use its sounds on this album (I only did it on "AGES"). Here, I only used Logic Pro sounds and recorded everything using a Roland Juno G as a midi keyboard. However, the Casiotone will be present on the sequel to LINDALË I'm currently working on...

Absolute banger, 10/10. Would ride alongside Neil Gaiman's "Death" character atop a black horse through a blue castle's courtyard again.

Thanks! And also... thank you for giving me the reference to Gaiman: I only saw one drawing of the Death character about one or two years ago and was extremely impressed but couldn't find where it came from. It might have unconsciously influenced the way I modified my cartoon to convey the mood I was looking for, but it was originally based on John Colliers's 1887 painting entitled "Lady Godiva" and I drew the original version about ten years ago.

The terror of realising that the inhuman monsters you hate with every fibre of your being - also look out the window and see beauty, they too can pour their hearts out into music and they are every bit as able to create art. (This isn't an attack on the artist, I'm not referring to them as a monster!)
@wernawolf
@wernawolf 2 ай бұрын
I have no problem with being called a monster - it all depends on the definition. Most human beings would rather point their fingers at somebody else and call them monsters than take a look at their mirrors and start asking the right questions. And as unpleasant and unfortunate as it may seem, no human can actually be called "inhuman", no matter how monstrous they are. As for creating art, if I have by any chance come close to what some may deem beautiful, one shouldn't forget I can only be held responsible for whatever mars the ideal this work was aimed at reaching. But since you seem to have implied there is some kind of beauty in my work, the only thing I can do here is thank you very much!

@@wernawolf I would like to explain since I lack eloquence: A lot of dungeon synth albums paint a picture inside your mind, when I closed my eyes while this one was playing, I saw a monster, a 'Dracula' playing the songs. From the perspective of a vampire slayer peering into the room, it might be scary to realise that your target had more humanity than you believed. It is as you say, we're closer to our enemies than we would be comfortable admitting.
@wernawolf
@wernawolf 2 ай бұрын
@@DeoMachina From what I read, I wouldn't say that you lack eloquence, on the contrary, and I couldn't agree more with everything you just said. As for the "Dracula playing the song" part, that's exactly what I had in mind when I composed the first track.
