Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail, on this weeks episode we say our good-byes to our friends on SV Delos and venture outside the reef, sails up, direction to the Marquesas...again! Despite being prepared for this tough passage we endure the downs of life at sea as we bash our way North to Hiva Oa in French Polynesia.

Thank you Richard! I’m glad you feel that way, because I try to make the passage seem as if you were with us. The days just going by after by, the boat in constant movement. It’s something we try to capture on film but then hope it portrays the same on the edit! Thank you for your comment!

Hey guys just watching your latest and my wife said that to help with the problem for women re bathroom while under way my wife always used and swears by her shewee yes there available in Australia 🇦🇺 (it allows the women to pee standing up) 😢 one of the best things I've seen. Hey guys! Another great video, such an adventure. This is TJ and Kelly Crook, we were on Colins' boat in the BVIs for the Odyssey sailing festival (we live in Central Fl and spoke about your xmas trip). We booked for Greece as well and are super excited! We tried to get on your boat since Colin and them won't be making it, but you guys were already booked up. 😢 We're on Brady and Blues boat, which is awesome as well. See you in September!

Either the audio wasn’t clear or my ears are getting too old. Did he hand you back a replacement for your drone that went in the water with the shopping cart or what was that about that you were thanking him? I caught the shopping episode on Delos Channel but maybe I missed something on yours. As you mentioned, I’ve also really like how you are almost a sailing tribe and meet up so often. Great memories you’ll have many years from now.

We were thanking Brian because he gave us a replacement after the shopping cart incident. It was so nice of him to do that! We have been having a good time sailing around beautiful French Polynesia together

The camera most definitely doesn’t show how big the waves are the camera on the boat really shows how bad the waves are

It’s hard to be the foldable dji for hikes but I’m surprised more sailors don’t use the waterproof Spy+ drone for flying over water. I’ve never used one so I’m not sure the picture quality but definitely something to consider.

Yeah we have considered the waterproof one for that exact reason, but it does come down to the image quality. We think the DJI produces some really amazing images!

I'm trying to work out whether you use a handheld gimbal to stabilise the camera relative to the boat movement.

Both our GoPro and Sony cam, have a stabilization in the camera. More so the GoPro already, but sometimes its all done in post edit too. Although, there are times that its so rough we cannot stabilize it especially on the boat!

@@WEsail Thanks. I guess video clips taken of subjects inside the boat don't need a gimbal because the subjects need to be stable relative to their surroundings. Clips taken from the boat out to sea or land are a different matter. You would want the subject to be stable relative to the boat movement. This could actually produce exciting footage when the boat is moving in a high sea state. It will certainly accentuate how rough the sea can be. I notice that sound can be an issue but internal camera recording is probably a better option then trying to use external recorders with radio lav mics especially if there is nowhere to hide the mics.
