Reviewing the Wesco Boss 7500 Engineer Boot
This is my first boot review so let me know what ya think!
I’ve had these Wesco boots since December of 2020.
They’re my first and only engineer boots, but they sure got me thinking about another pair.
Without a doubt these are the most striking and most complimented boots I own. But I will say they are less comfortable than some of my lace up boots. Not sure if it’s something that comes with pull-on boot territory or not.

For your first boot review, you have done very well. And, a great looking pair to review. Engineers are so different than lace up boots. Definitely, a different feel and sizing can be trickier. Less adjustability with laces, and foot volume and ankle flexibility really influence the fit. I have a pair of 7500's in my Brannock size 8.5D and they are fine across the toe box, but a bit wide at the heel. I'm waiting on a pair of Mr. Lou's that I ordered through The Shop in Vancouver. I drove to Scappoose and got to meet the owners and got fitted by Chris. Great folks there and was a great visit. I really dig supporting the home team and a family run business.

Thanks Tumalo. Sounds great to go there in person! I too like supporting smaller companies with a cool history

Great video, thank you. Very informative. I am hopeful to try on a size in person next month, which removes the guesswork on sizing... it's a shame we can't get Wesco easier in Australia.

Thanks man! Yeah the sizing with engineers seems to be THE question. Good luck with the try on!

Hey Duds, Interesting revue about these beautiful stylish boots. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge on this issue. - I used to have a pair of very cool and stylish Sancho harness biker boots years ago perfectly fitting with leather perfecto jackets. Unfortunately I can't wear them anymore, because my feet just don't slip inside. - But I love the cool look of your boots in this nice brown colour. I think they would also match perfectly with side laced brown or black leather jeans. Wishing you a good day, peace and kindest regards.

Yes in sometimes think I should have gotten a black pair because I’m so often wearing them with black jackets…but the contrasting look sure is striking!

Very nice boots and at a good price. Their color and shape are similar to my, russet eastman tanker boots (from vamp down).

Yeah agree about the color and shape. Definitely a more accessible engineer boot than many others!

As someone (like many others) who wore/wears heavy workboots outdoors, it's becomes very apparent that a new pair of boots feel much better after being worked in a couple days covered in mud. Keeps the leather damp or saturated perfectly all day. After learning that some decades ago, now when I buy new stiff boots I saturate the leather with water soon as I put them on and wear them until they're dry. Some people don't want water discolorations, but none of my pairs were/are for style or aesthetics.

Yeah especially with boots 100% for heavy work, understandable to get em comfortable as quickly as possible

Great looking pair! I have the opposite issue. I have a low instep so I get wild heel slip on my pull on boots. Got a pair of horsebutt moto(r) engineers and RW Roughout engineers. Both wildly different lasts and fit lol. It’s a mess, but fun

Hah yeah. Just adding more fuel to the “engineers are hard to fit” fire 😂

I also have a low instep and I have gone through so many engineers, including wescos boss, mr lous, wescos unfortunately don't work for my instep. So far I found John Lofgren engineers in -0.5 brannock with a thin insole work best for me

Lot of people have heel slip in Red Wings. Their heel cups are usually a bit large, forcing the bend of the boot to rely very heavily on the instep. The leather breaking in has barely a minimal effect. The heel lift/slip won't improve until the stiff sole becomes more flexible or begins to hold a walking curved shape for a more natural roll motion instead of the stiff plank effect.

Can you please tell what can i use to soften my hardened genuine leather jacket, i haven't used that in a while but now there are wrinkles on it. I already polished it with shoe polish ( is it good or bad ) then i applied Vaseline on it ( tell me if its good or bad ) then after 2 days i watched some of the videos and with a slightly wet cloth i cleaned it out of fear that show polish or vaseline might damage it further. Please help.

I have a crazy theory, bear with me, but I think engineers are a fundamentally flawed design that were invented not necessarily in a rush, but as a simple quick solution. The sizing, lasting, and pattern issue is what I hear 90% of the the time when talking about engineers which has led me to this far fetched theory. I just think the pattern is just complicated for the majority of feet, which the inventor in the mid to late 1800s didn’t think of because it was just supposed to be a simple work boot.
@DudsByDel

I actually dig this theory. However consider cowboy boots. Do people talk so much about fit etc for them like they do for engineer boots? Dunno. Also if something is built for purpose ie protection, perhaps comfort is an acceptable trade off, but folks these days are wearing them for fashion and day to day activities where that trade off makes less sense
