Wesley getting in and changing the Travelers from a bunch of wanderers to a cabal of Activists is exactly what's going on with our entertainment spaces today! Too funny!
@andygrams63442 жыл бұрын
Wesley is a Traveller who goes on journeys down old railroad tracks because he is curious about finding the dead rotting corpses of once beloved franchises that were hit by the freight trains of the Hollywood & Corporate Creative Committee railway. Addendum: The reason why everyone's been throwing up in Picard is that it's all a campfire story Wesley is telling us, where he plotted his revenge for not getting a cameo at first, he had everyone eat too much blueberry pies, and he then induced mass vomiting by his over-the-top over-positive reactions to each actor on set.

Oh! The throwing up throughout Picard now makes perfect sense - this whole terrible series has been a campfire story from Traveller Wesley, and he had everyone in it eat too much blueberry pies, and induced mass vomiting by the nauseating display of (his own) overacting on set. This was just so random. There was nothing in Korey's storyline to even hint that she's interested in exploration or that she had an affinity for that kind of thing. It came out of nowhere. The writers clearly had no idea what to do with her storyline and went, "let's put in a cameo and wrap it up."
@NitpickingNerd2 жыл бұрын
funniest part to me is how easy she accepted this fantasy story as something plausible . she's not even aware of the existence of aliens or time travel , only that she was a genetic experiment . she also behaved as if she knows Q (when she only saw a recording of him once), and for some reason seems ungrateful / annoyed by Q even though he's the one who gave her Freedom . yet is now complaining about his "games" as if she saw old tng episodes
@leandrotami2 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. She was barely about to start her new life away from her 'father' and then suddenly gets a visit like that for no apparent reason.
@bigddannyflynn-filmmaker56942 жыл бұрын
it felt tacked in last second - which meant that they didn't want to wrap up the Soji/Kore storyline at all, which makes season 1 completely pointless since Captain Picard was ready to risk everything in the galaxy to save Soji and even got killed trying to do it, then in season 2 they just tried to forget she existed haha
@Norm6042 жыл бұрын
That was my first thought as well. Wesley was a prodigy and the Traveler recognized that. She had barely left the house and had no experience with space travel. It was great to finally see him back for a few moments but it was thrown together. I wonder if he did it to get out of season 3.

So let me get this straight: Wesley had to unlock largely unspecified powers, yet Soong's daughter gets an invite for no reason other than being just that? And Jurati has been the Borg Queen in the main timeline for 400 years, got killed by Janeway, yet came back and decided within 23 years to become a good Borg Queen, bc parts of Agnes took over while listening to Edith Piaf? If that shit gets accepted, then I will send in my very own script pitch for Star Trek: Lowest Decks.
@calebwalker90902 жыл бұрын
Did you not even pay attention at all the Borg‘s timeline isn’t linear it never has been from your creation to their destruction in voyager to the re-creation of the good Borg in Picard it’s not one linear timeline there’s no start and end there’s no middle it’s all over the place and that is the whole point of the Borg and the reason that they probably talk his daughter without having to do anything is because she is an argument and an argument should not be there that early in the timeline history wasn’t ready for it yet they needed more time before society was ready for augments so they probably just recruited her to get her out of the timeline so they wouldn’t have to kill her

Honestly if this were a better show with better writers, a far more interesting first season would have been the Traveler plot finally getting resolved, one of the biggest loose ends from TNG. There was immense potential for that but the writers are too dumb to pull it off and as shown above, it's not even consistent or coherent in the final effort.

Remember on tng, when the traveler told a joke and messed up history for 10 decades? Nope, me neither. The writers think that bringing back characters is the answer but they have changed every single one. Wes isn't shaved, he is over emoting, the traveler never said anything about his people watching over or correcting time lines and what reason was there for him to no longer go by his name? If the traveler's race gave him a new name, one not pronouncable by humans, he could have mentioned that before saying that he used to go by wesley.

I hate how not only did they make Wesley Crusher a complete Gary Stu, but they changed how time works in Star Trek. Now no longer is there a "Temporal Time Directive" to not interfere with the past. Instead, mysterious beings are supposed to interfere with the past to "save the universe." Sinister.
@hjalfi2 жыл бұрын
Not to mention that having a group of superbeings maintaining the timeline completely undermines the many, many times Star Trek has had time travel stories where our heroes have to somehow save the timeline. It means nothing they did was important, because the travellers would always step in to fix things if they screwed up. ...also, where were they during the Temporal Cold War?

Technically Soji and Korre are two completely different characters who look exactly the same, are played by the same actress, and were artificially created by different members of the same family, who incidentally also look the same and are played by the same actor. So either Korre or Soji could be in season 3, though there is no logical reason for either character to be in the show again.

In ancient times in the U.K, Q was believed to be a god of music. If you remember the scales: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si, Do: Harp players plucking the 'Fa' and then sneezing found that they could summon Q. The sneezing sound was mistaken for his name 'Q'. The Harp was a heavy instrument and having to carry one around to summon 'Q' gave rise to the expression: "A Heavy Harp" which eventually morphed into a "Heavy Heart". Now Q didn't like being summoned for all sorts of petty reasons and so, he was quite rude to the people summoning him. Since rudeness had not been invented yet, early in habitants of the British Isles, would hold up the two fingers used to pluck the Fa on the Harp, say 'Fa' Q to refer to Q's rudeness when they wanted to be rude to someone. This dismissive rude greeting eventually morphed into the 'Fak You' over the centuries. While some believe it was because Wesley was so annoying, some believe that Picard may have suspected Crusher was a danger to the timeline which is why he was frequently ordered to shut up.

I am struggling to find words for how sad and angry it makes me that this is now canon. Everyone involved in this show took one of the best and most interesting sci-fi premises and beat it to a bloody pulp while simultaneously shitting on it. I just don't understand why it had to be this way. I am 100% fine with this kind of show being made... but it should have been its own franchise because it absolutely does NOT fit with the style or intent of actual Star Trek. The absolute shitshow of a trainwreck hopped up on meth that must be coming with Season 3 is going to be mind blowingly terrible. Every character is going to get absolutely ruined and there's not a thing any of us can do about it but sit back and watch it happen. Seriously though, I would love to live in an alternate reality where this EXACT same show was made without the Star Trek license and characters.... same actors and everything, except absolutely no references or names from Star Trek. I guarantee if it didn't have the built-in brand recognition, this would have gotten cancelled after 3 episodes if it was lucky.
