Interesting to see the old bomb sites and the history behind these unassuming buildings, keep up the good work Phil. 😊

I can hardly remember West Brom as it was in the 50's and 60's. My memory is of a vibrant High St, Dartmouth and Kendricks Parks, Broadheads Bakery, Co-op on the corner of Bull St, Spon Lane Senior School among other things. I grew up in Ellison St, just off Spon Lane before emigrating to Western Australia in 1973. We visit quite often and find it hard to get our bearings. Keep the videos coming. Phil W. Fremantle WA.🙂

Phil, my mom lived in Claypit Lane as a kid ,just off Dudley Street and she use to tell about the bombs dropping on the area around the Jesson and Edward and Lombard streets, Also in Richard street south ,the back of the town, which took out a chip shop and a row of houses, no bodies were ever found. She was 14 when the war ended working in Firkins in Carters Green. After a raid when they hid under the stairs, they would go out to school in the morning and see the roof stiles missing from most of the houses from the vibration .

Great recollections. I have photos of one of the bomb sites in Lombard Street. I will also visit, in a future video, Tantany where I hope i will be able to pinpoint one of the major bomb blasts there

I think that building you stopped at down Dartmouth St was the old Hop and Barleycorn pub.

Many thanks for that information

I remember it wasn't as depressing as it is now

It's not that bad, there's no rubbish about and no old mattresses and fridges. The houses although old seem well looked after.
