There's so much space on these new trains. Probably not great when the seats are all full, but moving down carriages is actually not a nightmare now.

They're a massive improvement on the Cross City line for me. The 323's I do love them as they're my number 1 train in the UK. However Interior Wise. The 323's are slowly aging and they're showing a bit of stains.

They are so comfy unless you have shoulders or legs (if using the window seat)

Went on one yesterday from Wolverhampton to Birmingham, rides nice and the acceleration feels faster than that of the current 350s on the route. However, the seats are super narrow and not as comfy as the refurbished 350s but TBF I can see past that on the Wolverhampton to Walsall route as the isles are much wider and in rush hour when standing capacity is more important (in my opinion) it's an improvement overall. However, if the seating is the same on the long-distance sets then I don't think it would be an improvement, but I can't speak for those sets as I haven't travelled on one.

I always hated getting on a 350/2 on a return Journey out of Euston, felt like being part of a cattle move with those awful seats. I was confused when I was on a refurbished 350/3(?) noticing the charging points thinking was I on another stock of train, didn't realise they were getting refreshed.

I made the mistake of sitting on a /2 between Euston and Crewe. That was an uncomfortable journey. I only realised after doing the journey a few times that LNR usually coupled a /2 to a /1,3 or 4.

350/3's are the only units to get refurbished and I have now spotted that they are starting to refubish the /3 units

Have the /1s already been refurbished then. Fitted with power points which they previously didn't have?

@@Rail_Focus They were all refurbished some time ago, it's just the /3s they left for a bit. Now they have started (well almost) finished the refurbishment program for the /3s

The West Midlands Railway Class 730/0 3-Car actually does look really nice and very brand new. And should be introduced on the Cross-City line in few months time. Also London Northwestern Railway to introduce the Class 730/2 5-Car trains from Spring this year.

The 5-car units may start driver training this spring, but won't enter service until the end of the year at the earliest

West Midlands Railway Said that They will be keeping the 350s on their Birmingham-Rugeley. But the Walsall-Wolverhampton will be with 730s.

Was on 730 yesterday seats too narrow and hard there less seats on 730 so be prepared to stand much prefer the class 350

I didn't find the seats to be hard, not compared to other recent stock anyway. Should they TPE's latest trains. I think they are designed with standing room in mind, but only on relatively short Cross City journeys.

The aventras were built to the floor height because of Heathrow Airport having 1,115 mm platforms.

To most people in the UK, more standing capacity isn't a capacity increase, because they like a seat. While enthusiasts hate 3+2, commuters will put up with it if it means they get a seat.

Depends how far you're travelling, for short busy routes is it better to try and cram more seats in, but have a cramped feeling train, or try to provide a more spacious feeling train with slightly fewer seats.. Perhaps the 730/0s should've had 3+2, but the reason I dislike the 350/2s is because LNR puts them on the Crewe-Euston route, and the uncomfortable 2+3 arrangement is far from adequate for a 2 and a half hour journey.

@@Rail_Focus Well 3+2 is a compromise since really, we should have longer trains, although I do think LNWR trains are long enough not to require it, thankfully.

Thankfully it seems the 5 car 730s have significantly more seats than the 350s. They can get extremely busy in the Crewe-Euston service. Even the 8 car formations are sometimes full and standing by the time it gets to Rugby.

I’m 6ft2 - the 3+2 seating is too tight for me (and I’m not overly wide!)

I’m not a fan of the new seat layout. It’s not very versatile. Plus the old layout is much more family/ group friendly. Plus the old layout allows more room for people with luggage. Now they will have to stand! Which is not ideal for some people.

WMR's units are designed primarily for relatively short distance routes, so seating is sacrificed for standing space. Will be interesting to see what LNR's units are like
