It's important to point out in each & every video that there are ONLY two (2) dance styles done on ANY social Dance Club/Lounge anywhere in the World. Spot/Rhythm & Progressive/Traveling. The congestion Problem (s) we all run into these days is that Dance Instructors do not continually reinforce (Over & Over/ Ad Nauseum ),...... All Spot/Rhythm Dance Styles should be done in the CENTER of the Dance Floor,......Progressive/Traveling Dance Styles are done in the two (2) outside lanes of the Dance Floor. Slower Progressive/Traveling Dancers on the inside Lane & the faster moving dances in the Outside FAST Lane. This way, we can ALL perform our dance of choice at the very same time to each particular Music Selection. Thank You!

How many types of dance are done on any Dance Club floor in the World?

Boy that's a tricky question. A lot! You'll see 2-Step, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Waltz, Country Swing, Triple Two Step, Double Two Step, Nightclub, Cha Cha and several more plus an unlimited amount of linedances. It's very dependent on your region which dances will be popular. Kind of like food. Even places that love BBQ will have different flavors depending on the region. I hope that helps! -Brian

It was Harry's Friskies in San Francisco in the early 1900's then when harry fox joined Zigfield folies it became the foxtrot danced outside the theatre to attract guests into the show. It was one of the evil animal dances banned by the catholic church.

@@WestCoastSwingOnline You are so welcome. Dance history can be so fun. There is some truth about tango influencing the dances of the day, but that is a longer conversation.

I had a valid comment about banning all other dances that I cannot find on this line now, but the answer is yes, the church banned even certain rhythms, like the habanera beat (look up Muppets habanera) for being too scandalous. The only dance not initially banned was the Polka, because the waltz had blazed the way for partnership dance. Ironically many of the CW variations today have roots in the original Landler Waltz.
