When I detected it it was clearly an iron signal but I like axe heads and even if it was a plow SharePoint I would have dug it just for the interest.

Cheers Beneath Our Feet, I've been having lots of conversations with the FLO He's is really interested. There isn't another Spearhead like this on the whole of the database. I guess it's because not many metal detectorists go for iron.

Its the right size for a spear point. Im thinking you need to have it checked out by a museum. Weapons back in those times were meant to kill. Not to wound. Great find. 👍

What do you do with the buttons that you find? I should say pesky buttons.

That was a nice surprise - almost thought it looked like a Zulu spearhead... You must have quite a collection of buttons? Some are rather unusual - and do you have many the same? I always find it curious as to how come so many indoor items end up in the middle of fields, but perhaps when they broke they'd put 'em on the bonfire?? Cheers! 😎👍🍀🦘🐾🍻

Nowadays we have people who take away the the rubbish from our houses, but back in the Middle Ages they just dumped it on the compost heap and in turn it got mixed up with the manure from their animals and spread upon the fields

@@WestCountryClegg I was thinking more about the castor from the table leg, really - we used to have great big bonfires when anything broken like that would be chucked on them - but you'd see evidence of burning if that t'were the case - So yes, muck from the middens would have been spread around quite a bit from their original dump site... So, what do you do with all them Pesky Buttons?!

Cheers Den, I'm going out with the Beast today, Because where I found the Spearhead I also found the Saxon buckle and a silver bullhead in a small place so I'm taking the Beast out to see if it can pluck up any more gems today

Watching in a place called Aldinga Beach, near Adelaide and I can't help but be jealous of your waterlogged dirt! Sounds odd but we just don't see it here! Nice job (proper job)!

I'm watching from Gippsland in Vic, also often feel jealous of the amount of soggy wetness in Brit soils. Even in mid winter soil here never gets that damp. *jealous sigh*
