Love it... reminds me of the time I worked at a Cat plant testing loaders in the 80's the power shift was awesome! I expect sitting around caused air in the system to enter on one end of the blade cylinders.... any air in the cylinder will mean it will not move until it cycles a few times... I would expect the seals to be pretty rotten so as soon as you fix that winch and the cylinders see full pump pressure you will have a mess... best to put a seal kit in... keep us posted on your progress... Geez what a blast!

I SO enjoy watching you and listening to your explaining what you are doing. You in many ways remind me of an uncle I loved hanging with 66+ years ago, as a little 4th grader, they lived in Texas. There wasnt anything he couldnt fix. He, in my eyes, was a genius. He would buy broken/abandoned heavy equipment, like you, haul it home on his huge, heavy duty flat bed trailer. My aunt would have a cow, cuss up a storm. All he'd say, "baby, I can fix it, use it for business and buy those fancy city things you love." That pretty much quieted her down. You 2 are probably from the same inquisitive mold, mechanically. Always figuring it out, getting it to work. I look forward to watch your telling of rebuilding that CAT. I will reminisce about my cool uncle, listening to you. Please keep up the YOU TUBE sharing on this cool CAT. We WANT MORE!

You’re doing great, ignore the idiots giving you grief about checking fluids. Im old and so is my tractor(1967 John Deere 4020 gasoline power shift) ive had to do some engineering to keep her happy but she is a beast too. Those old hydraulic systems are so over built it is unusual for a serious problem to happen. First check for blockage, and the most common, especially in this old beast is a filter needing changed. When you hear the pump whine, change the filter. Also, maybe change the hydraulic fluid....it can accumulate moisture just from temp changes. If you don’t know when the last time it was changed...change it. Itll save headaches in the long run and you’ll know for certain the fluid is in good shape. Also, check your control connections on the valve body, shoot some WD-40 or similar light oil to the controls moving parts. Your blade may not have been moving last time because the valve was stuck and once you got the fluid moving it freed up after sitting for a bit. Great machine and the price...crazy!!! Shoot me any question and if I can help... good luck!
