Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell - Railroad crossing bells

3 жыл бұрынThis railroad crossing bell is the Western Cullen Hayes aka WCH bell.
It is a mechanical bell I have purchased on ebay and it is not in my collection.
It is so heavy and powerful. I will show you the inside of the bell and how the mechanism is powered. I am so lucky I got it!
Detailes:
Produced by Western-Cullen-Hayes, INC. In January 27th 1995. Designed for 6 to 17 volt DC operation. Proper speed of approximately 200 strokes per minute. The volume strength can be adjusted.

My town has 8 railroad crossing gates mostly running the WC Hayes' e-bell, but we still have one gate running that model, still an awesome sound to hear from the house. Keep up the good work boss!

Nice! I found a COMPLETE Harmon electric cantilever laying on the ground that the railroad removed because the other matching cantilever had lights facing both directions, so they only really needed one. I took some wrenches and some wire cutters to it, and got a complete set of Harmon electric lights and a WCH 2nd gen bell. I also pulled all the wire out of the mast/cantilever.

@@IvanTimber no, but they don’t know who did it either, and I know they weren’t gonna be reusing it, so it was free real estate 😉

@@IvanTimber it was a short line railroad that was already halfway abandoned (about one train a year)

This bell is the official equipment of Southern Pacific railroad and it's subsidiary SSW (Saint Louis and Southwestern Railway) AKA Cotton Belt plus many WC Hayes crossing equipment.

That bell is pretty good, you have a gen2 i see, i heard those can last pretty long on the mechanism, dont forget to oil it every 3 months to make it last longer

I have a railroad crossing setup and have the first gen on it first gen’s have a straight base and not a stepped on like this one only difference is the inside is plastic and has a oil plug on the outside of the bell

For your bell, a railroad lock will not be necessary since your bell already has a lock screw mechanism like my 3 do, that is how you lock the WCH bell.

I’m surprised that eBay has mechanical bells the problem is I can’t really shop on eBay because my family doesn’t trust eBay that much I’m trying my best to get a hold of one hopefully soon I will own a railroad crossing bell
