As an owner of the Z740R I can say it has been great with absolutely no problems. It's a little more money than I wanted to pay but the quality is there. If I had to buy again I would seriously look at the 5 series as I only cut 2 yards. Both are nice mowers

Great video, I literally just went over this non stop for the last two weeks while watching your video. As a property owner with a few acres to mow, I didn't see the added value for the cost different between the Z5 and Z7. I went with a Z530R. The Z7 series is nice, but there wasn't a few thousand dollar gain to me between the Z740R and the Z530R. I also felt the Z530R was a better idea over the 545R. I'd much prefer the Kawasaki over the Briggs, and I certainly didn't want to be the test dummy for the new EFI system. The electronic throttle buttons on the 545R seemed gimmicky and not the greatest idea on a mower. I have a 4066R open station with all the electronics, and I will accept a couple hundred electronic part replacement in 5-10yrs on it, but not on a lawn mower. Thanks again for all the informative videos, if you were closer to the Atlantic I would have stopped in, just because of the effort you put into the educational videos for the consumers. Great marketing for your and Deere. Thanks again!

I feel the 700 series is just pointless if you need to upgrade from the 500 R series may as well just get a 900 series

If I had to pick if probably pick the John Deere Z500, over the John Deere Z700, just because the John Deere, Z500, might be easier for me to adjust and use better than the John Deere Z700, it’s just my opinion but I do like them both though. They are both very nice Zero Turn Mowers.

I was trying to stay below $9k total price when I got my z545R. I honestly didn't want to spend over six when I first started looking for a new zero turn.😂 The z530m at $5,799 was good enough to me, then that deal fell through, and I ended up at a different dealer. He tried to get me on a z720e, but the extra features the z545R offered sold me pretty quick. The Trans axles are my only concern with choosing the z5 over the z7. Luckily, I got a 7 year bumper to bumper warranty. Hopefully, I don't need to use it.

I ordered the z355R 48" last week and it was going to be like 4 weeks waiting,so yesterday I went back to get the z515E 48" but they say that it was going to be about 2mo for that,so they had a z530M 54" so I buy that and they give me a $200 off because it was a 54 and not a 48 so they let me get it for the 48" price and im super happy with that😎

I had a 525 with 25 hours on it gave it to a family member bought a Spartan absolutely no comparison it will mow circles around both of those mowers it is better in ever single way

I just bought a Z530M, I think it's a 2023. The deck isn't yellow it's green. Don't have EFI, that would have been nice. But it's still a good ride😊

Very good presentation! Your presentation is done from a far better understanding of JD products than any of the salesmen at the dealer near me. I do have some observations and questions though, not seen on your video. On the z700 series, the weight of the deck is supported on four chain links, and the chain links are supported on the threads of the upper support bolts, not the shanks. From my experience the weight of the deck will cause these threads to wear to the core. The shanks of the lower support bolts are solid where the chains are so this is not an issue. The Z900 series has solid shanks on the upper and lower support bolts. This is not an issue on the Z500 series as the deck is supported in an entirely different way. Also, on the Z500 series, where the throttle handle is mounted, there is a cover to keep water from draining down inside the throttle cable jacket. On the Z700 series there is no cover and any water going below goes right down the cable and will drain right into the jacket. It looks like water trapped in the jacket will cause rusting and binding, unless the jacket and cable are made from stainless steel. The only fix is to replace the cable when this happens. I contacted JD customer service to address these points and was told that there is a four year warranty on the mowers. IOW, these mowers are only designed to last the length of the warranty period. I am concerned that the Z700 series mowers will have higher maintenance expenses over its lifetime than say, the z500 series. The decks on the 500 series may not float like the 700 and z900 series mowers, but they are bullet proof. I'm interested in the Z700 series but these two points are bothering me as these are easily addressed quality issues. I don't want to pay the higher price for a Z700 series mower and know these things (and possibly other things) will fail after the warranty period is over. My present JD mower with 1100 hours has lasted 18 years and is still being used. Your thoughts?

I purchased a z530m today, and it will be delivered tomorrow. Hopefully, it will take care of my 5 acre yard for a long time. Edit: I had to come back and edit my comment, cause of my frustration with my local deere dealer. I went in on Wednesday 3/15/23 and purchased a z530m through deere financial and was told it would be delivered the next day. I was on edge cause I was without a mower, a big storm was coming and my grass was needing mowed bad and some spots are really slow to dry out. Well, I got a call saying they screwed up and double sold that mower and that I was having to wait until the next Monday for mine. Now my yard isn't mowed, it rained two inches and the future forecast looks grim for mowing for at least three weeks. So, I told them to cancel my order and am supposed to be picking up a z545R at a different dealer this evening. This is really the mower I wanted anyway and it has the 60 inch deck, instead of a 54 inch. Edit#2 I got my z545R this evening and oh my! I am so glad the deal on that z530m fell through. The "R" series is well worth the upgrades. I am in heaven with this thing! Just wish I could mow right now. LOL 1.9% interest for 36 months through John Deere was a sweet deal.

I had the Z520 before I bought the Z720. Both were very similar but the big change was the size of the deck. My 500 model had the 60 inch deck. I miss that deck more than any change in the mower. I could cut around trees on the go and not have to make three turns to get close enough with the 54 inch. I have a pond and I could cut right up to the water and not leave 5 inches for the weeds to grow. The mowers cut the same and when I mow the pasture like a do twice a month, I really can't tell the 8 inches, actually I can't tell a difference there.

Here's a real puzzle for you to solve. What's the differences between an Unstyled A, B and G All of these are the Unstyled versions and I don't know what's different between them 3 tractors.

I always like your reviews. And recent outtakes are nice. But I’d like (need) to see some operational comparisons. The type that matter in real use. Such as actual operation on various steeper slopes. Comfort over time. Adjustability of control bars. Fuel consumption. Horsepower when conditions require it. Comparisons of larger engine w/smaller HP. Vs. smaller engines with more rated HP. Horsepower vs torque Etc.

Love the fact that you are including some outtakes at the end of the videos. As always very informative and easy to understand. Will you or would you do a review on the John Deere Generators?

Actually the 700 series has the FR, FS, or FX Kawasaki engine, depending on the whether you go with the 20, 30, or 40 series. It is a bit disappointing that the 500 series no longer has the FS Kawasaki engine that was available on the 540 in previous years. Probably the more important difference is the HydroGear transaxle on the 700 vs the TuffTorq on the 500. Any of those engines, including the Briggs, will most likely outlast that TuffTorq transaxle.

Those are both really nice but way way out of our price range.

When Will John Deere upgrade the z700’s like the z5’s with the electronic fuel gage, led lights, and efi engine

Bought a 720e for my small business. One thing I'm not crazy about is the 23 hp Kawasaki fr. In tall thick grass, I need to pass often times twice to get rid of clippings when mulching . Pretty disappointing considering this doubles the size of properties... Other than that it's built well, rides well, and leaves a pro quality cut. With 120 hrs on it, there is some slight wear on the deck hang chains, seems premature to me, but hey, it's a deere, the quality and durability ikaint what it used to be!

I’m looking at the 735M. All mower reviews say the Kawasaki motor is better than Briggs & Stratton. Would I be better suited going with the 730M with Kawasaki over the 735 M with the Briggs ?

Just started my own landscaping business couple months ago, and this 530 I purchased today for my first rider. Right now I’m only mowing maybe 5 yards a day, nothing crazy, but here in Houston I see a lot of ExMark, Scag and Bobcat. How does the JD compare to those?

I've been looking for a new zero turn. I've been leaning heavily to the BadBoy mower. Does John Deere have a zero turn that has a serviceable transmission? Oil & filters.

Yea if the Z7 had EFI, I'd be all over it but the Z545R stands out on it's own for me. I feel like JD is trying EFI on the Z5 this year and we will see it on the Z7 next year....just my 2 cents. The thing that isn't ideal is that the non-serviceable transmissions (tuff torque) on the Z5. I am not sure about that Z7, can you clarify that for us? I also thought the deck was 7 gauge on the Z7 vs the 9 on the Z5... Thanks for all the great videos Brent. I watch most of them.

So the Z7 has a parking brake just like ALL Hustlers do, even the $3000 Raptor X….and the Z7 has the dial height deck adjustment just like all Bad Boys do, even their $3200 Magnum…..hmmm

One detail I would like more info on is the deck mounting. On the 7 I see chains and on the 5 I see what looks to be adjustable bolts. I would think this is a huge detail because any and everyone has put the decks on a zero turn in some tight spots trying to get every bit of grass possible. The 5 looks like it could be compromised much quicker than the 7 on this detail more than any other. Is there a video with more info on the deck systems of the 5 and 7 for comparison?

Cheap stamped decks and poor seat suspension. Hard to get to filters. Small frames. Not competitive. Never seen one on a landscapers trailer.

Neither. John Deere when to crap years ago and 20% of their costs comes from the name alone. You should take your money and buy from literally any other brand who's usually giving you thicker deck guages, better spindles, better transmissions, better engines, better seats, better overall design and better quality overall.

Briggs and Stratton, even the commercial series, are absolutely unreliable. The lowest Kawasaki outlasts the highest briggs motor by a long shot. Speaking from lots of experience
