I think it's because it was their third time winning this and if the British public all around the country voted it to be Record of the Year then it means this song is so popular that it got chosen among all hits from that year... So yeah, they appreciate such stuff

Until I saw an interview where he had the gall to say “I have the best looking abs, I look the best, and I have the best voice as well; I just am the best person in Westlife.” (No joke, I’m serious)That was it for me. Brian did as many American band mates do, when they hit it big, they want to go solo because they think that they are the star. Brian stated he was leaving as he couldn’t devote the proper time to his family or to the band. He just didn’t have the time to do it anymore. But then not one month later he’s gone on a solo tour and dropping an album?!! When the 20th reunion of Westlife was coming up, Brian took it upon himself to talk with Reporters first instead of the guys in the group, about ‘well I’m not sure what exactly “we’re” doing for the reunion.’ I’m sure there will be something.” Yes he was in the group for 7 or 9 years, however, he bailed under false pretenses. He should have been honest and stated that he wanted to give it a go as a solo artist. He was never the ‘lead person’ in the group.” There never was one. To this day, the 4 guys are equal. Then the Twenty Tour comes up, and the 4 men..Shane, Nicky, Kian and Mark are still as tightly bonded together, still grounded and thankful, and most importantly...still HUMBLE! These 4 men who made WESTLIFE what it is today, are the true heart & soul of what WESTLIFE is all about. “One cannot be taught how to be ‘humble.’ You either are, or your not. Brian is not. Basically here in America we have a phrase for that, “You made your bed, now lay in it.” Brian made his choice. I don’t have ill feelings, I’m just stating it from a music industry look on it. I wish Brian the best in whatever he chooses to do. And may Gods blessings be upon him. Westlife, (Shane, Nicky, Kian and Mark), is an incredible Group after all these years! Who else could worry that their fans might have gone their way to other groups, and they might not have been welcomed back or there for them. Not that simple. Bryan left Westlife in 2004 (after 5 years being in Westlife), and the 4 remaining lads of Westlife has survived through 8 years together (2004-2012) without Bryan, even had a great come back in 2019. So, Westlife without Bryan is just fine. And as their fans, let's support whatever their decision. Westlife for life! 😊

Sorry, I don't know either. My favourite was the first win as have such good memories of how happy they were after it when we went to their hotel to congratulate them.

This was a competition we used to have in the UK every year to judge the best song of the year voted for by the public.

Yes, usually in those days they did mime on TV shows. The best old ones to watch if you want live are Top of the Pops as they almost always sung live on that.

contrary clarey , if you look closely Mark takes his earpiece on HIS left ear in and out all the time, they all have two standard in the ear canal ear molds. The wiring goes down the back of the inside of the shirts to the small battery pack box they attach to so they can hear. Since bands no longer use just on the floor monitors in front of their mic stands, they have ‘custom made’ earpieces. Very similar to the mold used in over the ear hearing aids. Plus they match their skin and face tone coloring now. Shane I believe usually only wears the one ear and his is black. If you all really look throughout ALL of the numerous concert and inside performances at Award Shows and appearances, you should notice that all of the guys, except for Shane, usually have one out hanging a bit down in front on their shirts. It’s sometimes slipped under their blazer lapel. One side is for hearing everyone/band, and the other side is for hearing your own voice. Mark constantly takes his in and out of one ear as he is always very aware of when his part start in a different key level, so he’ll slip it into his ear just before he starts to sing. “Flying Without Wings” is a great example of him doing it. Now in the Twenty Tour they still have the same set up with the earpieces, I just don’t know if they’ve upgraded to the ‘Bluetooth piece ‘ or not. No the words won’t always perfectly match the lips as cell phone cameras vary, lighting varies, and the Broadcast method used, especially overseas makes a big difference. (The TV Industry does what they call ‘Looping’ after it’s filmed outside or while moving. That’s where the actor comes into the studio afterward and redoes their lines to match the film, so it’s not noticeable. The Music Industry only does it sometimes for Music Videos like MTV used to show all the time.) I hope this helps explain it for you!!!!! Thanks !

Actually I totally agree in this case! My absolute least favourite Westlife song but please don't judge them based on that.

@@donna7785 Yes I'm aware of the media reports at the time but actually I think it was mainly Brian that was said to hate it. Are you even a fan if you don't know they have sung it at almost every tour since, which is what I was saying was the weird thing.
