This song said everything exactly I want him to know . I haven't ACCEPTED the fact God had taken my precious brother away from ME , to our siblings and his own 2 sons whom He Adored so dearly. (my brother who is now one of God's Angels ) ,left so sudden & gone too soon .My brother said to me a few days before he died quote : I am going to see our eldest sister who was already in Heaven , she passed on 12 years ago 😢.My HOPE ,Faith & Believe is the only thing that I hang on, linger on everyday of my life as the songs says " I will Definitely see you my brother again ( including our eldest sister) all together in Heaven " ,last sentence of song 'No this is Not Goodbye as I always said to my brother and my sister . This song is a trigger for a good reason : On December 2018, I lost a childhood friend, Ryad, at the mere age of 28 from acute alcohol poisoning. I remember the final time we spent together two months prior to his passing during a visit in my hometown. We talked about the future. He was proud of me for graduating from university and he told me that I would become a great journalist after obtaining my MA. We grew up in the same hood and he stood by me like Chris stood by Gordie. Even if we grew apart, we were always catching up and updating each other about our whereabouts on social media often. Three weeks before, we talked on Facebook about petty stuff and our daily lives. Finding out about his demise tore me apart. I couldn't attend his funeral because I had to be at the office. It took me a month of crying, not sleeping, popping pills and drinking wine to fathom. Later on Christmas break, I was strolling in our hood and desperately tracked him down to no avail and I bawled alone at night in the cold. Five months after he died, I went to visit his grave on a rainy day. I brought flowers. I cried. I shouted, I fell, I broke down. And I began to talk like we used to. I had this conversation with him like he was here. And it was cathartic. I've been able to fulfill my final duty to him as a friend by bidding him farewell. As I left the graveyard, the rain stopped and the sun began shining toward me. I looked at the sun and I said, smiling "So you heard me ?". And I felt like he did because after I said it, the sun shone even more. I felt his presence behind me like he was hugging me from behind, his arms around me, holding me close like to tell me "Brother, it's alright !". I felt relief and at this moment where I felt his spirit alongside me, I came to terms with the fact that he really departed but I also realized that no matter where I go, what I do and where I'm headed, he's here watching over me. His spirit is with me as I walk. I felt at peace with him being gone and as the sun shone above me, I walked back home smiling with the intent of making the most out of my life. . My goodbye has been told, I told him everything. I can heal now. At this moment, I thought "Is this what they call closure ? Is it acceptance ? Because I needed that. Now that I have that, I can move on with my life." My grief is still here though. When I think of him, I still choke at times. But the memories and the love we had will be enough. And even though between this world and eternity, his face will always amongst those I'd hope to see and hold tight again, I will keep moving for him and all the people and friends I had lost in my 30 years of existence. Until we meet again, l'll look at the sky, towards the sun and smile. Love you, brother Ryad ♥️.
