You mean a drug-free GOLD... 1)Romania 2)USSR 3)USSR - "4th" as you say Chris Boxer/Cahill cheated out of gold running 4 minutes flat - a great run and it makes me sick to think of her being cheated as was Yvonne Murray in the 3000 finishing 3rd behind Samolenko and Ivan. Makes you realize how many Great British athletes there were who were robbed. IMHO they should be honoured (literally) as Olympic champions.

1988 Olympics were the most heavily doped Games in history.
@Parker5284 жыл бұрын
That's debatable for sure. Many questions regarding the boycotted Games in Moscow. Just as a minor example, we now definitely know that the head doping Doctor for the GDR was at least up until @ 1984, personally injecting a then undetectable metabolite of Nandrolone ester into all athletes within an hour or so before the race. The females who were victims of that have since come forward and specifically talked about the typical "warm" feeling spreading through their body in the hour after the shared needle injections. By the time 85 came around, the Nandrolone metabolite injections were detectable as the testing technology improved. But for sure no matter what Games you want to select as an example of widespread doping, it wasn't until the 76 games when the GDR was injecting pre race after a season of 4 sets of hard training with their Oral Turinabol steroid- a mandatory training pill for ALL GDR athletes in every Olympic sport except for four that they determined would not benefit the athletes in training.
@timn44813 жыл бұрын
you state that as if fact. and you'd be wrong too. the most heavily doped olympics occurred from 1960 through to 1976. thats a well known fact as steroids were a mainstay for most, and not officially banned or necessarily tested for. whatever testing that did arrive was weak and very limited and there was no out of comp testing at all. in 1988 testing was in full swing and caught a lot of people. But athletes were 'less doped' by being forced into drugs that were less potent but could avoid detection or be eliminated, or werent using at all. ..or only used out of comp. That being said, there was out of comp testing also in 1988.

Actually DanTDM closer to pronouncing her name correctly then your interpretation or opinion of it. You have to remember first it is a different language if it's very close to the Soviet alphabet which is different from our alphabet. I will phonetically try my best to type out the letters for you to demonstrate exactly how her name is pronounced when transliterated from Romanian to English First part: Pow (as in a Pow-wow ceremony) 2nd part: la as la la Land Now we put those two together and we have a phonetically spelled first name for her accurately pronounced as Pow-la.

@@rolandgreen7484 Hey Dustin, first of all Ashford was 100 percent clean. She was weird though, said stupid things sometimes, and used to make digs at Flojo when they were in conferences and interviews. But she was probably right. Flojo is a unique story though. She did something, but she had the most perfect technique of anyone in the world after 1987 season she improved a lot and did a lot of leg muscle build up . I think it may have been using other stuff like HGH and HCG which isnt a steroid necessarily. Carl was taking a load of shit, once again most probably HCG. But he was disliked because of his sexuality at the time. He made the mistake of doing Sports Illustrated interview I think in 1984 and posed for some pics of himself by the pool for the article which totally turned into a fiasco- gay rumours abounded and his marketability plummeted. He wasnt very likeable either Brisco was doped to the eyelids in 1984. The sad thing is, she was a good athlete with horrendous form and could have actually won in 1988 had she fixed her technique, she was clean in 1988 btw. Jackie Joyner probably used whatever Flojo used, but probably cycled off in time for the OLympics to not get caught. Mary Decker was clean. She was a bitch, but clean.
