"jeeze, and I thought they were from the mid West USA"? What a breath of fresh air they are. I'm a really, really old geezer and old enough to be their grandad and I love them. I'd sell me dentures and the mobility scooter to get me hands on a ticket if Wet Leg and Baxter Drury were on the same stage..... Outstanding. "gonna make a cuppa and have another listen"!!!

They're both so humble and soft-spoken--I wouldn't have expected that from the creators of a banger like "Wet Dream"! I hope they go far, defo be keeping an eye out for their full-length album :)

I moved down to the Mobile Alabama area a year ago and finally found 92.1 WZEW 2 days ago. So glad I did because yesterday I heard Chaise Longue and what a catchy tune. This band is going places

@@Michael69 He published an essay in The Guardian on Sept 17 with title "Iggy Pop on finding new music: ‘At my age, it helps to remain curious’" Here's the 1st graf-- "I keep reading that we decline in our 70s so I try to keep using my brain. Discovering new music opens my mind and the element of surprise keeps me connected. I feel like I’m mining for diamonds - and when you find the diamond, you know. When I heard Chaise Longue by Wet Leg I got really excited: it’s cheeky, with a wicked groove, but it’s the vocals - they’re almost metronomic. You could ask 100 people to sing it and it wouldn’t sound the same." I'd post the link to the whole piece, but the last time I linked to something here, my comment got removed. I'm not sure why-- it was in perfectly good taste.

Rhian and Hester built a campfire and lit a match. Now they find themselves unexpectedly at the Grande Finale of Burning Man, right out the gate. I really love what they have given us and only hope for the best for them. Isle of Wight, World spotlight, overnight.

When I was a teenager, I lived on Hayling Island, which faces the Isle of Wight. My hippie sister was 20 & lived there. It was a strange place in the 1970s. I remember aged 18 taking the ferry, I think from Gosport, over to see her. I brought my Suzuki GT380, which I still own. Her boyfriend was a tall Aussie bloke who demanded a go on it. I think he was disappointed it wouldn’t wheelie.

So psyched to find this band! Dig the harsh guitars juxtaposed against the sweet vocals singing naughty lyrics. I’d love to see them open for Amyl and The Sniffers when I see Amyl play in Brooklyn this coming May! That’d be such an interesting mix!!

Their little lead guitar licks also sound kinda like something Kurt Cobain would appreciate. Specifically that "butter your muffin" song, which has a hint of the "come as you are" solo in its grungey simplicity. Lot of people seem to dislike this group but I'm all for them man! Wish I could jam with them and make some cool collab tracks 😞

It's ironic because I've been getting into the Idles recently, and it seems they're having effects on so many other bands - but this is the best effect because Wet Leg sound like an excellent indie band, and really it's their music which gives them away, the power behind both songs is so clear. It's interesting just waiting for new material. and they've woken me up for sure... that takes some doing.

Their purity arises from their near-total isolation. Some people don’t leave the Isle for years on end. It’s just big enough for that to not be totally nuts.

So, the song is called "Chaise Longue", which is repeated in the song so many times there can be no doubt how it's pronounced, even if you don't know any French. Then why does the interviewer pronounce it like "...lonje"? I presume he listened to the song before interviewing the band?
