Some people say they're difficult to interview because they're quiet but it's down to the interviewer to get them talking and this is one of those interviews with a good interviewer who manages to have an interesting conversation with them. Their quietness draws you to them and when you get used to how they talk you realise how intelligent, charming and funny they are.

Nah, the 90's were the golden age - we're in an ice age if anything, in the 90's every third band was either full of females or had a female vocalist and a lot of them were better than their male peers. Garbage, Republica, Elastica, Skunk Anansie, The Cardigans, The Cranberries, Len, No Doubt, Sixpence None the Richer, Hole, L7, Bikini Kill, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Alannis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, Whale, Aqua, Daisy Chainsaw, The Sugarcubes, Sleeper, Catatonia, Sneaker Pimps, Texas, Echobelly, Sleater-Kinney, The Breeders, Babes in Toyland. That's just off the top of my head. The 90's was arguably the apex of western music but by 2002 Simon Cowell had entered the scene and suddenly every #1 single in Europe or North America was released by some manufactured wankbubble who won a TV talentless show. There are a few post-90's magic makers though - War Paint, Stealing Sheep, Blood Red Shoes, Skating Polly, Slothrust, Bully, Wolf Alice, Speedy Ortiz, to name a few but nowhere near as many over the past 20 years as there were in the 90's. /sigh
