This game is about one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever heard in my life.

I lost count of how many years it's been since I played this game, and still somehow I keep coming here from time to time. What a beautiful experience it was.

Even after all these years, where I've basically forgotten the game, listening to this still brings me to tears, despite me not knowing why. I think it's time for a replay.

I cried at the part in John's childhood when he met River for the first time, just, I don't know, it was beautiful.

Many years ago, in 2013, my old girlfriend and I were listening to this soundtrack on the balcony of our apartment in london. We were planning to go to china to see the world. We did, and made many friends who we don't see anymore, as they all went back to their respective countries and lives. We went to thailand, italy, america. Slowly, as can happen, we grew apart as our priorities changed and little damages in our lives tugged us apart. We don't talk anymore, and I have a daughter with my current partner and her one with hers. Life is a funny thing. Things come and go, love, friendships, family, but it always goes on, and you move on from it through pain and change, and in time you look back at your younger self, so full of hope and wonder, and perhaps you smile, or perhaps you cry. Life is, very often, about adapting to loss. Enjoy what you have, and cherish the things of youth, before gracefully surrendering what you must. Whatever happens, it's still a beautiful world.

Every version of for River makes me cry

I know I'm late to the party but seeing this album cover is simple but telling. Both John and River are next to each other and complementary and it tells the story of the game. John is extroverted as his arms are outward. River is introverted, as her arms are crossed and inward. The moon is boundary, dividing their "worlds" but is also used as a joining point, where they will be in the end. It looks like a triangle, where John and River have their own side, their own "point" of view or human differences ("normal" vs Aspberger's). The moon (albeit provided by Rosalene and Neil) is providing that closure, both literally and figuratively. I think that's awesome.

I kinda want people to make this a movie, but I don't want them to ruin it.

I finished playing To the moon last night and I can't find the words to describe the impact it has had on me. It broke my heart. So many painful details ... She lived all her life next to John trying to awaken a memory he had lost and ... in the end he really lost his life with River trying to reach her. They never met on the moon, at least not in reality. They didn't even meet on the tummy of the many bunnies she created in vain to make herself understood. I hope you all have the good fortune to meet your River or John and never get lost.

13 years later, this game is still a landmark of an interactive storytelling - an absolute masterpiece. It has one of the most beautiful, powerful and saddest stories I have ever experienced in any media, especially because mental health problems have been very familiar to me and my family. Playing this game felt almost too painful, but at the same time, therapeutic and cathartic. Every time when I hear "For River" I cry. It feels like that song contains a human soul. Or a spirit. Some cluster of eternal energy, beauty and perishableness.

If To The Moon was an anime movie, it would be one of the greatest and yet saddest movies of all time. I would cry like a little baby 2x, just like in the game.

it makes you think. the goal isn't to live forever. the goal is to create something that will.

To me, to the moon was a story. Not a game. About a man in his final moments wanting to live a moment that was happy and hopeful to make up for the sadness and denial and agony in his life. The two doctors made his wish come true but instead of deleting River from Johnny's memory they instead add her to his final moment of the moon. This story is beautiful, sad, confusing, and something I don't fully understand. To this day it leaves me thinking, why did Johnny really want to change his memory in his last moments. Why not just die with the happy thoughts of love, and of River. R. I. P. Johnny. You'll be with River again soon.

it has been a year since i played this game and i remember i was playing this game from 3 am till 6 and crying for a whole 2 hours after i finished and listening to this just brings back so many memories of such an amazing game i think i might just play it again and thank you for uploading this

You know, people keep saying that this should be an anime or live action movie. But I would not mind if Dreamworks or Pixar took their spin on it. Especially after seeing Up, I think they could handle the touching/serious moments as well as the funny moments of this movie.

It has been years since playing this game but finding the OST once again is like unearthing deeply repressed memories. The transition between Launch and the Ending version of To The Moon leaves me as an emotional puddle on the floor. I can still hear the heartbeat flatline. What an amazing game!

Just the music alone brings up strong feelings and memories of the game, seeing the two of them staring at the moon is a much bigger symbol than you would think before playing the game. I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel!

This album has so much meaning towards it, that you do not even have to play the game to get the story. This game truly has one of the greatest stories ever to told in mankind. I played this game who knows how many years ago, and yet every now and again it pops into my mind and I am instantly reminded of all of the feels. Now that is one hell of a story

Guys, it's not just Ken Gao. It's also Laura Shigihara who helped create the music. And the song you hear, the one with the ACTUAL voice was from a previous song she made for the purpose of this game. And the song is "Everything Is Alright."

Chills every single time I hear the first notes of that main melody. Truly one of the best video game sound tracks I have ever, ever heard. I know I'm gushing, but it is just that good and the game is just that moving.

I recently rewatched playthroughs of this, A Bird Story and Finding Paradise and they all hit me so much harder emotionally than the first time round. Now I constantly have thoughts of the story, dialogue and soundtrack in my head and I can't concentrate on anything else. So now I'm just embracing that and enjoying all this beautiful music over and over. What a masterpiece.

Hey guys, can I have some real talk? I need some help. So I'm in 11th grade and I have Asperger's, the same thing that River has, it basically makes it like you want to throw up every time you talk to someone you don't know, it just feels so uncomfortable. So I've known a girl for quite a while, about a year actually and I've always liked her, I've always hung out with her and been very kind to her, I feel like she's the one person that I know that I can actually talk to without feeling afraid or uncomfortable. So this last weekend was homecoming, I asked her to it and she said yes, so we went together and had a great time, then we went back to her house and sat on the couch and watched a movie, just me and her. so today on Monday I spent a good hour after school with her and I was too afraid to ask her out at the time, so I got home and texted her asking if she thought that I was crazy or stupid since she knew about my Asperger's syndrome, she said no and I sat and thought about it for a second and told her that I loved her and asked her out, and she said that she wanted to take things slow for now. Please someone help me, I don't understand these things, I've known her for quite a while and it's not like I haven't been spending time with her, she's the only person who actually talks to me. If you don't have any help, could you at least upvote this comment so that someone who does know can help?

Cried so hard playing this game. The game is so beautiful and the soundtrack complements it so well.

I like how a movie that's 2 hours is considered long, and a video game that's 4 hours is considered short. But then why on earth are movies the same or more expensive than video games? It ain't right.

When the first chord hit I started tearing up and no music ever does that to me, this is such a beautiful sound track and game.

I've seen the game and I love the story but as a musician I love the music and when u combine a beautiful story and wonderful music it just brings tears to the eyes

Usually, the game will be made and the music will be developed later to be paired with it. This is one of those happy exceptions where the music can stand out apart from the game, and give whoever listens to it the same story and feelings that the game gives. Bravo, sirs. Bravo.

I realized finally that Tommy and Sarah represent Neil and Eva to some extent. They're two strangers who have come unexpectedly into Johnny's life and reshaped it for the better. It's best represented by how they recreate their own version of For River because they can clearly tell that it's incomplete otherwise, showing how they recreated and completed John's life after River died

I’m feeling so many feelings and I want them to go away but stay with me forever at the same time. I’m not sure who I am. My mom said that she feels like doesn’t know me, and as I said, even I don’t. I don’t know how to open up to really anyone but random strangers I’ll never meet on this strange thing we call the internet, but I’m glad that there’s always at least one person that will be able to relate, or give advice, or even the people that say rude things. All those people care enough to leave their mark on wha I say and knowing that others are out there make me feel so much better about myself and my journey. So, thank you. I think for many people "going to the moon" is a sort of "dream of any kind". You can put your own dream instead of "going to the moon" of the main character and imagine that you play for the sake of yourself. Because getting to the moon, becoming a cosmonaut is as difficult to achieve as any other person`s dream, I mean real dream, the one you have for years since early childhood. It`s important not to lose your very one dream and stick to it for your whole life. In the end - we are all the same, aren`t we?
