Diamante - ein schöner Name für die fiktive Stadt, die der argentinische Autor und Regisseur Mariano Pensotti in seiner spektakulären Theaterarbeit zum Leben erweckt: Ein deutscher Unternehmer baute vor gut 100 Jahren im Norden Argentiniens ein Zuhause für die Mitarbeiter*innen seines Bergbauunternehmens. Hier leben die großteils deutschen Migrant*innen in einem Idyll aus skandinavischen Holzhäuschen und sozialen Privilegien. In einem dreiaktigen Live-Epos, mit Anleihen der Telenovela, erzählt Pensotti meisterhaft vom Niedergang einer Utopie. Das Publikum verfolgt alles hautnah: Es späht durch Fenster und Türen der elf wie Filmsets aufgebauten Schauplätze und erlebt, wie die Leute tanzen und leben, wie Beziehungen zerbrechen, wie betrogen und gehofft wird - und wie sich die paradiesische Musterstadt mitten im Dschungel in ihr schlimmstes Gegenteil verkehrt. In jedem Akt besucht man dieselben Menschen und sieht, wie aus Angst um Sicherheit und Wohlstand die Abschottung wächst. Ein außergewöhnliches Theatererlebnis, das den Nerv der Gegenwart trifft. Diamante - a beautiful name for a fictional city brought to life in a spectacular theatrical event by the Argentinean author and director Mariano Pensotti: About 100 years ago, a German businessman built a home for the workers employed in his mining company in the north of Argentina. In this city, the workers, largely of German descent, live in idyllic conditions in Scandinavian-style cabins and enjoy social privileges. Pensotti’s three-act live epos draws on telenovela elements to depict the decline of a utopia. The audience experiences it all first hand: Visitors move through the eleven scenes, which resemble film sets, and peer in windows and doors. They follow the city’s inhabitants as they dance and live, as relationships shatter. They witness betrayal and hope - and observe how the idyllic city in the middle of the jungle becomes the exact opposite. In each act, the audience visits the same people and sees how their fear of losing security and wealth increases isolation. An extraordinary theatrical exprience that captures the mood of the times.
