In 2020, WGN Chicago began using jingles on air, from several different Jam Creative packages. Most of these were classic Jam News & Talk jingles used on stations like WABC & WNBC. Let me know in the comments below, what packages you recognize.

After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well.

Cool upload! Interesting to see the 21st century version of what a JAMS package sounds like. Love the way they keep the vocal harmonies a signature part of their image. Learned about Bob Sirott from this upload. Didn't realize his terrific career there in the Windy City, a 7-year stint as a top jock at the also-legendary Chitown flamethrower, WLS, from '73-'79, before moving into television. I like the delivery of Bob, from the samples heard in this package from JAMS. He reminds me a bit of NYC shock-jock extraordinaire, Jay Diamond.

But most clients would rather have sonic branding that matches the moment rather than a "barber shop" (Reelworld uses that term not me) quartet harmony, especially European stations. This is why companies like Reelworld and Euro companies like Wise Buddah get the clients. TM Studios also adapts to the moment, and basically came into existence to produce jingles that matched the music of the day. I get it, JAM Creative is the Holy Grail of jingles and they are great a making Jingle Music.

@@donmccullen1973 Yep, clients today may want something that's different from what my generation grew up on, I get it. But I wasn't speaking as current client who would be deciding on the next imaging package for my stations. Just as a fan of radio. When I was a PD on the Outer Banks of NC in the mid 90's, my modern rock 25K watt FM station's imaging sounded NOTHING like a JAMS or PAMS -style harmony-based sound. My channel here has aircheck samples of what a decent modern-rock reporting FM station's jingle package sounded like: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7WDhcV8qdXYj6s.html Sometimes it's good to try to step back and try to "feel" the sounds from these jingle packages without the radio filters of trying to sell them, as if you hadn't been turned yet. Like a listener.

The Top of the Hour ID's are terrific, I got a kick out of one I had heard with Orion Samuelson voicing it, One of the early cuts was used by WGAR in Cleveland in the 70's.

I hate the modern jingles that are out today. But these... these are how jingles are done! JAM has done it once again.

JAM Creative does jingle music. Modern Jingle are more about sonic branding. Short and to the point.

@@TheRolyPoly I call them the Holy Grail because who speak highly of them. They may believe that they can't do no wrong Jon was mentored by the best and when he and his wife founded JAM, he picked up where Bill Meeks and PAMS left off. Indeed JAM's standard are high, as with PAMS. Still I hear JAM this and JAM that from the die hard fans is overkill for me. These people complain if people are not using jingles from JAM Creative. While I am not harsh on them like say Reelworld, I would not use the term "barber shop" singers like RW does. That is why I use the fair term "Jingle Music." JAM Creative was great in its prime, but sadly while they do well, they have become more of a novelty. People who want sonic branding without the cheese and novelty and JAM is good at delivering the novelty at times. I am a JAM fan, but not a dire hard exclusive. Never have. If I like a jingle package or certain cuts...I like them regardless of who cranked them out of their pipeline.

Thanks Mr. Feaster. Good to hear a somewhat more traditional sounding jingle package on the air again. Also, I do recognize the 66 WNBC sound on some of these and also reminders of 1030 WBZ and 920 WJAR from back in the day. Nice!

Been listening to this quite a bit in the evening,John Landecker and Rolley James-both very entertaining personalities but I also listened to John when he was on The Big 89 in the seventies

Love his nostalgic movie and TV history he does, fly Jamz Friday, his dad tells a joke, Friday features (you big dummy, straight outta context) triple something Tuesday and so many segments. Digilio know how to entertain you in the late night hours and he does it right.

On their 100th anni - I thought I heard 615 Music's Chicago's Very Own (or a variant of the TV's 15 year long theme package) on the TOTH. Regardless i like recycled jingles.

@@EllisFeaster If you time it right.. you can catch the same voice guy on WBBM introducing CBS News on the hour. That.. wouldn't have happened when the Nothing But Class jingles first aired.

@@donmccullen1973 It was. The first few jingles started showing up shortly after they bought the station. About a year later, they went nuts and raided the Jam archives!
