The trade was solid. Send a prospect for an NHL roster player they need. I wish he’d started making these moves a year ago.

I'm STUNNED at the amount of vast insight this lady has about hockey, the Sabres ..... and sports. No wonder she's on television as a sports reporter ................. She HAS to have been raised in, well, I'm guessing, Saskatchewan. Or Ottawa????? If NOT, HOW could she possibly be on NBC affiliated "sports" coverage??????? LOL!!!!!! Hahaha. Channel two ..........

Savoie was passed by Kulich, Ostlund and Rosen while he piddled around in the WHL. Scoring goals against 17 yr olds! Wow! Helenius and these others have performed well against MEN older than they are, in the AHL or Europe. Savoie will be in Bakersfield before long, if he survives that kind of beating he never saw in juniors he may come up.....some day....maybe. Too small.

I live in New Hampshire close to UNH. Saw Sardarian play several games. As the season went on his ice time went down. His skill set is limited. He basically was a bottom 6 forward on a mediocre college team, albeit one that does play in the tough and competitive Hockey East with BC, BU, UMASS, Maine, UCONN, UMASS Lowell, Northeastern and Merrimack.

As much as I like the high flying, goal scoring, quick paced games, it wasn't working. Your goaltender is asked to do too much in that style of play. The league is all about goal tending. It's a "must have" and we finally have someone, in UPL, who is more than passable. We have to support him with a sound defensive structure and tougher players. We have too many midgets and not enough board rattlers. I'm glad we are bigger. I hope they play bigger. I have to believe that Lindy Ruff will demand it and reward it in the players who show it.

No. Sabres fans have suffered through terrible seasons and to offset some of that suffering the Sabres were rewarded with high draft picks. Adams didn't think of the fans when he fritted away a top prospect for a third liner that Edmonton was trying to get rid of. Adams is clearly desperate to keep his job.

@@thewolfdoctor761 Tell me who you draft and what you would do in the draft as a GM, your philosophy as an identity? Tell me arm chair GM, how to run the sabres. I grow tired of the bitching and complaining, and wish most of you fans would just wait and see how it turns out, if it's a great move and the sabres make the playoffs, it's water under the bridge, but if it's another failure, well Adams was on his last leg anyways, so it doesn't matter at this point, now does it?! At least he's actively trying to get them over the hump, and making trades, looking at other options.

You forgot to add in the nearly 7 million in present salaries that next years free agents are making now when discussing next years cap space. Losing Mitts and Skinner's offense definately hasn't been mitigated with this years free agent gains. Plus, we better hope none of our top 6 forwards gets hurt of it could be a long season.
@bjarczyk
@bjarczyk 14 күн бұрын
If we look at all the massive improvements in defense in the bottom 6, keeping pucks out of our net alone makes up for Skinner. Skinner probably wouldn’t perform as good on the 3rd or 4th line anyways. These move drastically improved our team. Improvements in team defense, aggression, and getting the offense going again will make us a playoff team.

@@bjarczyk Greenway, Okposo, Krebs and Gergensens all had good plus/minus stats, Robinson too, last year, so your point doesn't hold up, our pp was a big problem, what's been done to rectify that? We have a decent roster, but after years & years of high draft picks and lottery picks, will struggle to make the playoffs as it stands now. Pitt, Jersey, Ottawa, Montreal & Detroit will see to that.

no, actually he had a soundbite exit interview with Jim Matheson, and he sounded excited. He was slowly getting pushed down the lineup in Edmonton, and got scratched multiple times in the playoffs. Most teams he's a certified top 3 center, kind of hard with McDavid, Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins down the middle. In Buffalo, he'll flourish in that role, and could end up a top 2 center on the team. He was in Edmonton's top 6 on numerous occasions during his career. He's rated as the 2nd fastest skater in the NHL, and beat McDavid twice in Edmonton's annual skills competition. To add, he was a primary asset on the Oiler's penalty kill, which set records in the playoffs, going 100% in two series. McLeod has a unique set of assets, and he's still quite young. Lindy Ruff is all about speed and structure. Ryan is the perfect player for Ruff to mold. Savoie was just another prospect with offensive prowess. Years away from the NHL still. Sabres are making it clear they're ready to win, now.
@gambl0r
@gambl0r 17 күн бұрын
And Peyton Krebs has put in the work to transform his game. His 2 way game didn't exist two years ago. He's come a long way, and still the has potential to be a producing 3rd liner in the NHL. Also still very young. Let Ruff cook with ingredients that Buffalo has grown over the years, and the new spices from the Boss up top

Would quality teams trade a top ten draft pick for a bottom six center? No chance. Buffalo did. If the Sabres tried to trade Ryan McLeod right now what would be the return? A first round top ten pick? No chance in hell. Would they get a 2nd round pick? Highly unlikely! Would they get a 3rd rounder or lower? Probably. Do desperate teams do desperate things? Absolutely. Kevyn Adams should have been making moves last summer and he did virtually nothing with the forwards. He let Skinner, Oloffson and Zemgus leave for nothing this year. Good asset management? Adams has been here for several years and so far what has he accomplished? Zilch. And yet all I hear is happy talk from the Sabres.

Have to disagree Paul, Sabres still don't have anyone to bring respect when it comes to dropping the gloves...look at Malenstyn's fights...loser saying that I agree the bottom 6 is better. Try as hard as you like, you can't say Buffalo did well in this deal. They basically did the Oilers a favor for taking McLeod's contract , because he needed to be dumped. I can see giving up a third for McLeod but not your top prospect. This could easily have been in a month , the Oilers trade a 3rd and McLeod to the Sabres for a 4th or worse because the Oil had no choice. If Adams really liked Savoie as much as people claim this deal never would have happened. What did Jackson do? Did he call up Adams and say "Hi, we need to dump some salary, how about you just give us your top prospect for that 3rd liner you have missing on your roster." LOL. Lets keep in mind even though Buffalo has a couple RFA to deal with they do have 13M in cap space. Big win for the Oilers on this one.
