I’m 68 years old. I’ve been playing guitar for 54 years. I’ve watched live bands on TV and seen hundreds of live concerts and gigs. For over 54 years I’ve seen many great and famous bands on stage where there is little movement and almost no smiling. It doesn’t mean that the band and musicians are not enjoying themselves or having fun! I thoroughly enjoy myself every time I play my guitar, listen to music I love or watch a great film but I don’t do so with a big smile on my face!

Honestly not sure what you're seeing. Rigid? They make it look easy. I honestly don't understand when music is so high level live, the stage movement become so important to some. I've seen enough of that in my life without great music. This song is a masterpiece. So I can't go over reactors getting hung up on movement on stage.

To be fair. He really liked it. His conclusion was very positive, in considering that he seem to be a rather moderate guy. He was just confused with them standing there playing without any show. And that is true, Lovebites often do that and in this song in particular. There was not much connection made with the audience in this performance. On the other hand, the audience seemed connected anyhow. Lovebites 2.0, their comeback after the hiatus is more lively. So maybe he shall look at some newer stuff? NOTE, as an explanation. I personally have no problems at all with musicians that stand still. Different people do different things. I am just trying to understand how he reasoned.

In my opinion, this song is a masterpiece. Even if I was bothered by things such as how much they move on stage, or how much they smile etc. etc. (which I'm not) I would still love them because the quality of their songwriting and musicianship is so astoundingly high. But I understand that different people like different things. I wonder how many musicians on the planet could do what we just watched Miyako do.

Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song. In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'. Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

Miyako (lead guitarist/pianist at stage left) is a generational talent who is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She has been classically-trained on the piano since the age of 3. Miyako also composed & arranged "Swan Song" and this track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus). Miyako's piano intro is Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor", aka the "Revolutionary Étude". This band is far from being "rigid". If you want to see them really engage the crowd, here's another track from the same concert as the previous 2 songs you have reacted to - "Raise Some Hell" LIVE : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMedhrR1lbC5dp8.html

They will grab you a little more with each reaction I expect :) So that's the piano one. For some of the more animated stage stuff from Lovebites. - Raise Some Hell live - Scream For Me live - We The United live - M.D.O. Live - Stand And Deliver live And then a fun outlier, Spellbound live, some great 80s synth metal, and a bit of Keytar and silliness from Miyako, the dark haired guitarist / pianist.

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics: If this was the last day you could live on this earth Would you still go on, accusing someone for today It’s better to fail than not do anything at all It is not the length, but depth of life that counts Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been through despair Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to never care You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life Sometimes the life of one can save so many more Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: miyako / both Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: midori [guitar] / miyako [piano] ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: miyako & LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami) album: Electric Pentagram 01/29/2020 ------

That's a bit of a serious song subject to jump around and smile while you're playing. They are actually a pretty fun band a lot of the time, and they play every style of music you can imagine - but almost all of it is fast and heavy. To see them actually having fun - *_We the United_* Live 2023 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i9R-q9mYsa_Dgps.html ; *_Raise Some Hell_* Live 2020 (same concert as your 1st two) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMedhrR1lbC5dp8.html ; *_Stand and Deliver_* Live 2023 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbSZYLJ2z-CxlHU.html

Right?? Last thing I'd be looking for in this song or certain others of theirs. They're absolutely mesmerizing to watch in this one, not smiling or moving too much. I think it is an accumulated thing of getting to know their personalities that make them more and more mesmerizing the more you watch and see their talent and skill, and differences of performances.

This is not the only song that has piano or keyboards. Some others are ; Epilogue Empty Daydream Edge of the world Rising Spellbound Lost in The Garden Burden Of Time, and there are others. Miyako has been playing Piano since the age of 3. She, generally composes music on the piano first, then writes the guitar parts including bass & drums. Then she will send it off to the other members for there input. 😏♥️🎙🎸🎹🥁😎🤘 Btw, if you had a quarter of the talent she has.....wether she's smiling and dancing around or not, you would be somebody !

I want to know just when exactly jumping around running all over the stage became more important than the music ? the concentration it takes to play at the speed and complexity they do just does not lend itself to acrobatics Brother if that is what you want you go to the circus lol I am a 62 year old musician and this band amazes me with the skill level they all have i would not have even noticed the so called rigidness

IMHO in well over 50 years of watching bands it's very often the ones who jump around like lunatics that are doing it to distract from their lack of musical talent . If watching a bunch of hairy old guys get helped on to the stage with their zimmers and mime to the tracks then Mottley Crue is probably your bag 🤷‍♂

If your looking for crowd interaction or more movement on stage then: From the Miho Era of 2021 and earlier: Raise Some Hell We The United M.D.O. Hammer of Wrath Shadowmaker In the Current Fami Era: From Knocken at Heavens Gate: Hammer of Wrath We The United M.D.O. Nameless Warrior Judgement Day Stand and Deliver Liar This next part is just my opinion. Their earlier shows, to me, each member played a part in the stage performance and allowed their music to perform through them. If it was a Happy or Fast song, the members were more active. If it was a sad/serious song then they were more stationery. But since Knocken at Heavens Gate, the band is more active even though their facial expression still match the song for the most part. I have been seeing videos from their shows in Europe that are going on now, and the band is active and enjoying every moment on stage. I wish I could be there to watch them, but the videos being shown are good for now. But each year they do a show, they get better and better and so do the songs, no matter how old the song is.

Haha...I guess you picked two songs with very few smiles and movement. This is not how it USE to be. Especially now with the new bass player, who is only a big smile. I think these two songs themes and tone just have not brought many smiles. I think that is a reason. This has quite a melancholic sound.

A supplemetal info. You'd better check the background story of Chopin Revolutionary Etude although. The story shares the same theme with the lyrics of Swan Song. Hence those two pieces make a suite. It really is a piece of genuine art. You seemed that you enjoyed their performance but ironically you did not smile either lol. BTW, these are the great metal musicians don't smile during their performance. Unlucky Morpheus Quadratum kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqlidJSZx9uwnX0.html.
